Jack Elder Holds Grand Opening Of Newest Local Furniture Store Occupying spacious new quarters in the new Rimpau building block at 140-146 N. Los Angeles st., Elder's Furniture store is holding its grand opening and open house today until 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Owner and operator of the new enterprise is Jack Elder, formerly manager of another Anaheim furniture store and assistant manager of a large Long Beach concern. Associated with Elder will be Leonard Fulton and Ray Du-Co-ing, well known Anaheim furniture salesmen. Between the three men they aggregate about nine years of local furniture merchandising experience. Specializing in modern and maple designs, Elder’s will carry the finest in furnishings. A spacious rug and carpet department will carry Early American brands and the appliance section will feature Hotpoint and General Electric lines. Radios, television receivers and refrigerators in the store will carry the famous Philco brand name and Century and Gold Arrow brands will distinguish the furniture line. Bedroom and dining furniture is by Hollycraft. Customers will have the opportunity of utilizing an advisory service as home furnishings and a home decorator service is available. Complete drapery service furnished by the store features one week delivery. Custom-made drapes by Pacific Draperies are featured. Brea Man Dies; Service Tomorrow Tag rates ranging from 40 cents per $100 of assessed value in Sanitation District 6 (Costa Mesa) down to zero for District 8 (Laguna Beach) which has not taken up an active program so far, were fixed by the sanitation districts Wednesday when budgets were adopted. District No. 2, which includes Anaheim, Orange and northeastern Orange county, including half of Fullerton, has a rate of 10 cents, under a gentleman’s agreement for a 10-cent ceiling. The district’s budget is $339,422, including $204,077 for maintenance and operation, $104,156 for bond retirement and interest, and $27,189 unappropriated reserve. Wade, 49, a native of Clay Center, Kan., who came to Brea 28 years ago and who has lived there continuously and was an employee of the Union Oil Co., died suddenly Wednesday night at the family home, 717 N. Wade of Brea; two daughters, Mary E. and Martha J. Wade both of Brea; mother, Mrs. Clara Wade of Brea; one brother, George R. Wade of Brea and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Thomason of Burbank and Mrs. Ernest Elliott of Reseda, Calif. He was a member of the First Baptist church of Brea. Funeral services will be conducted from the Hilgenfeld chapel Saturday at 10:30 o'clock. Rev. R. C. McFadden, pastor of the First Baptist church of Brea, will officiate and burial will follow in Loma Vista Memorial Park. Third Combined Service Set "With God in the Storm" will be the title of the third message in the series on Paul, the Apostle, being brought by Dr. Harold Humbert for the combined evening services. This series of services is being sponsored by the White Temple Methodist, Wesley Methodist, Evangelical United Brethren, and Christian churches and are held at the Evangelical church Sunday evenings at 7:30 o'clock. Rev. Frank Butterworth will preside with Walt Taylor leading the congregational singing. Special music will be brought by Edith Browne Shuman who will sing "How Beautiful Upon the Mountain."
