Lynn Bari Turns Comic In Television Debut Tonight
By TOM E. DANSON
HOLLYWOOD — Remember the svelte, appealing "other woman" named Lynn Bari you've seen in scores of movies? Well, Lynn has turned to television—but not as the "other woman." The dark haired beauty makes her debut in the title role of the new N.B.C. situation comedy series, "Boss Lady" tonight. (In some sections of the country, due to the fact that the series is a film she has already been seen).
I stopped by the California studios across from Paramount the other day just as Producer Jack Wrather and the lovely star were coming off the set.
"Wewwww!" she whistled. This has been tough work, and any film actress who doesn't believe television is far more wearing is really kidding herself."
We all, of course, have heard of Lynn's haunting voice, and when she spoke, frankly, I began slowly to melt. (Must have been the heat from the lights on the sound stage or radiation from Warner’s, which was blazing mercily). As one enraptured interviewer had phrased it: "If gardenias on bronze velve made a sound, it would be the sound of Lynn Bari's voice." This voice, coupled with a trim figure and enticing charm, has been responsible for Lynn's playing almost literally hundreds of "other woman's roles—all of which, she toons are next on Walt list . . . Marlene Dietrich down a movie about a silent star whose movies are for TV saying she didn't to play a femme Hopalong sidy. Ginger Rogers, snapped it up.

THE sound stage or radiation from Warner's, which was blazing merrily). As one enraptured interviewer had phrased it: "If gardenias on bronze velve made a sound, it would be the sound of Lynn Bari's voice." This voice, coupled with a trim figure and enticing charm, has been responsible for Lynn's playing almost literally hundreds of "other woman's roles—all of which, she cordially dislikes.
Actually, Lynn insists, she is about as femme fatale as the kid next door and, what she doesn't add—easily as beautiful.
"Honest, Tom," she told me, "doing this television series has been hard work, but it's been well worth every hour. I've always wanted to play comedy, and I believe you'll find that 'Boss Lady' is good, laughable family comedy."
The transition from the "other woman" to sharp comedy hasn't been too painful for Lynn. As she pointed out, "To play those 'come hither' roles, anyone has to have a solid sense of humor."
In "Boss Lady" Lynn, is cast as the business like president of America's largest home building company—a girl whose head is filled with figures, and whose figure fills men's heads with ideas!
