A blue and yellow kitchen shower was held Tuesday evening for Miss Marlene Paschall, daughter of the A. B. Paschalls of Olive who, in August, will become the bride of Staff Sgt. Jimie W. Cline. Hostesses were Miss Edna Messeral and Mrs. Lols Rogers who entertained in the home of Mrs. Steve Hughes, 168 S. Main st., Orange. Arrangements of shasta daisies decorated the living room of the home and on the mantle was a miniature wedding scene with the bridal party. Streamers of yellow and blue reached to the gift table on which were placed the many articles for a kitchen. All the guests were presented novelty corsages of plastic knives and forks tied with blue and yellow ribbon. Miss Paschall's corsege was corn holders and butter spreaders, also tied with yellow and blue ribbon. Various guessing games were played after the gifts were opened, and prizes were awarded to Mrs. Orville Timme and Mrs. A. B. Paschall. Refreshments of individual cakes decorated in yellow and blue were served with pineapple-lime frappe and blue and yellow mints on TATTLE-TALES The Gazette welcomes items for this column. Please bring, mail or phone Irene. Phone 6232. A DENTAL APPOINTMENT was the purpose, last Monday, for a visit to Los Angeles by Mrs. Alice Briley, 1216 W. Broadway. Before the day was over, however, and she had returned to Anaheim, the reason for the visit to the city, among other things, had taken a minor place in her thoughts. With some time on her hands to dispose of she decided to attend the Queen for a Day show, where, to her surprise and delight she was chosen Queen. Her wish was a most deserving one, and truly merited the decision of the judges. Every one who knows the Brileys, shares the pleasure in their good fortune. VISITING THE Sunkist ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Pellow, have been Miss Gloria Davis, Mr. Fred Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. Reginold Wainright of Toronto, Canada. The Wainrights, cousins of the Pellow's, were so favorably impressed with Orange county that they are on their way home to sell out and return here to make their home. Norman Duncan is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Duncan, 9852 Walker st., Cypress. James has been in Korea 10 months serving as machine gunner with the 7th Regiment, 3rd Division. He is a graduate of AUHS and played ball on the Cypress Merchant’s ball team before entering the service. Gladioli were used for decorating the dinner table and each guest was presented with a corsage, made by Bonnie Jolissaint. Highlight of the meeting was the report on Grand Convention, held in Sacramento, by Mary Jean Lambert. Helen Krom of Corpus Christi Institute, Fullerton, was elected and installed grand second vice president during the convention. Anaheim officers installed were president, Marie Martin; past president, Bonita Jolissaint; first vice president, Mary Jean Lambert; second vice president, Blanche Hudson; recording secretary, Wynetta Schmidt; financial secretary, Virginia Mulligan; treasurer, Opal Rimpau; trustees, Agnes Zinda, Geraldine Carlson, Wenona Halderman, Lorainne Revell, Elanor Trujillo; marshal, Anita Dixon; organist, Leona DeWitt; outside sentinel, Helen Kish and inside sentinel, Elsie Boner. Presentation of gifts was made by Wynetta Schmidt, Agnes Zinda and Bonita Jolissaint. Guest speakers were Mercedes Kilker, Institute Deputy from Long Beach and Helen Krom, Corpus Christi Institute, Fullerton, Grand Second Vice President. Newly installed president, Marie Martin thanked the Institute for the honor conferred upon her, and reminded the members that her efforts would be in vain unless the members gave her their encouragement and hearty support, and that the success and prosperity of the Institute depended on the work of each member. Mercedes Kilker Fall Program To be Outlined At Council Meet Fall activities for the Anaheim Girl Scout council will be discussed at the July 8th board meeting, Investment in Youth building. Executive duties and responsibilities will be presented by the staff and office committee. The chairman of the budget and finance committee, Bernard Jordan, will discuss various council projects. Suggested program plans for the next year will be outlined by program chairman, Mrs. Don May. Mrs. Conan Gray, president of the Anaheim Girl Scout council urges all board members to be present for this important business meeting. Extensive Trip Taken by Couple Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Franz, 1129 W. Center st., have returned from a 12,000 mile trip through Salt Lake City and Ottumwa, Iowa to have a reunion of three sisters and their families, including 28 relatives. Next stop was in Detroit, Michigan, where they visited another sister. While there they toured Fords village and plant. Other places visited included Niagara Falls, Buffalo and Albany, New York, and Vermont where they visited Mrs. Franz' brothers and sisters. Also on their route were Hartford, Conn., Burlington and Lake Howard Hall Host Beach Party Mr. and Mrs. Howard children, Nancy and John hosts to a Fourth of July party at their Newport summer home. After an afternoon of sunning, the group around a beach fire for and fireworks.
