Social and Club Activities Pat Terrebonne — 2206 White and Silver Background Is Setting for Stovall-Porter Rites White taffeta and imported lace were worn by lovely Miss Carol Stovall Friday evening when she repeated vows at Grace Lutheran church with Buford Porter of Long Beach. The Rev. H. F. Stief officiated at the double ring services, read against a background of spring flowers and lighted candles. The bride, daughter of Mrs. Agnes Stovall of 502 S. Resh st., was given in marriage by her god father, E. R. Heinze. A heart shaped crown held her veil of lace and nylon net and she carried a white Bible with a white orchid and spray of sweet-peas. Matron of honor, Mrs. James Kennedy, wore aqua taffeta and sweet-peas in a matching colonial bouquet. Senior bridesmaid, Connie Tighe, wore orchid taffeta with a matching nosegay and junior bridesmaids, Beverly Heinze and Rosalie Heinze wore pastel green and pink, respectively, and carried matching flowers. Mrs. Del Martens recorded the ceremony. Before the service candles were lighted by David Stovall and Chucki Kennedy. The large wedding cake was topped with dolls used by the bride's grandmother and sister at their weddings. Mrs. Emil Martens had charge of the guest book and Mrs. Howard Jones and Miss Margaret Tiettjen, of gifts. Mrs. C. A. Porter, unable to be present for the ceremony, was represented in the reception line by Mrs. Duane Porter. Mrs. Stovall wore a sheer print dress in grey and green with matching accessories and a spray of orchids. When the couple left for a Carlsbad Caverns, Oklahoma and Texas honeymoon the bride was wearing a grey and gold dress under a navy blue faille duster and an orchid corsage. She was graduated from Zion Lutheran grade school and Anaheim High school. Her husband was graduated from Long Beach High school and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Porter of Anaheim. They will establish residence in Anaheim. Arnold of Chino, and Tydore John Pietrok, son of Mr. Mrs. Frank A. Petrok of this cathedral. Officating at the double services was Father Doxie of no name. Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a dress of white lion tulle over taffeta with ruffles of lace and tulle on full sirt. The felted lace bodice had a lace yoke and sleeves; her fingertip veil was held by lace crown encrusted with pearl. A white orchid and stephanite were attached to her white prince book. Miss Annie Ermigaret of New Walk was maid of honor and wore a strapless gown with a felted bodice and full net skirt. Tiny ruffles detailed her brief cape matching net ruffles were worn on a matching green headpiece. She cared a nosegay of vanilla orchids and large lavender bons. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Raymine Preci of Buena Park and Miss Diana Lee Kearkins of Downey where matching ensembles in orange and blue. Both carried noses of pink roses tied with cerise bons. James H. Milligan of Long Bay was best man and Charles Irwin and Joe Hassi, both of Los Angeles, ushered. Large baskets of gladiolus, bells, Senior bridesmaid, Connie Tighe, wore orchid taffeta with a matching nosegay and junior bridemaids, Beverly Heinze and Rosalie Heinze wore pastel green and pink, respectively, and carried matching flowers. Films Shown at Public Library The public was invited Tuesday evening to the showing of films at the public library lecture hall. Shown were "Czechoslovakia," a March of Time production; "Northwest USA;" an interesting story of the people, land and industries of Washington and Oregon; "Buenos Aires and Montevideo." For travelling the bride chose a melon shade knit suit with brown and white accessories and the orchid from her bouquet. She is a graduate of Whittier High school. Her husband is a graduate of Anaheim High school, Fullerton Junior college and the University of Southern California where he affiliated with Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. On return from an undisclosed honeymoon destination the couple will reside in their new home at 905 S. Lemon st. FARM BUREAU GIFT. Ladies of the Home Department presented a sewing machine for use in the Farm building in Orange, Thursday, at a meeting of the board of directors. The presentation was made by Kellogg, chairman of the organization, and C. J. executive secretary, by Mrs. C. J. Bose, chairman Home Department. Mrs. Bose was assisted in the tion of the machine by Mrs. Walter Paulus and M. VFW Auxiliary Makes Visit To Sawtelle The VFW Auxiliary met recently at the home of Mrs. Emma Daniel, 822 N. Helena. An enjoyable day was spent making pads to be taken to the Veteran's hospital at Sawtelle and at noon, a pot luck lunch was served. Thursday, June 5, Mrs. Elizabeth Aldrich, hospital chairman. The same films are to be shown again this evening at 7:30 p.m. Magnolia Elementary School No. 1 annual picnic at Irvine park was attended by 300 parents and children, according to Mrs. Edmund Cook, publicity chairman of the P-TA. After a planned pot luck luncheon the daughters beat the mothers playing softball, with a score of 10 to 4. The fathers report they are ashamed to admit just how much their sons won over them. Umpires were Andy Krumanaker, custodian; Clyde Morris, board chairman, and Cleo G. Mossman. Social Meeting Held by Circle The Friendly Circle met June 4 at the Euclid ave. home of Mrs. Anton Vanderboon. Assisted by her daughter, Louise, Mrs. Vanderboon served a delightful luncheon which was followed by the business meeting. Various games were enjoyed in the afternoon with prizes, which were lovely ceramics made by the hostess, awarded to Mrs. James Pavel, Mrs. Charles McGinnis and Mrs. Veerl Rogers. Mrs. John Lasleben and son Vance, were guests. The group will meet at the Vearl Royer home on S. Dickel st., June 18, when each member is invited to bring a guest. The next meeting will be held Monday, June 9, at 8 p.m. at the VFW hall. Hospitaliay Tea The Hospitality Tea, sponsored by the Retail Merchants Division, was held Saturday afternoon, June 7, for newcomers to Anaheim. A delightful luncheon was served at the Dorothy-Wade Cafe, hosted by the Junior Ebell club of Anaheim. Ten newcomers were guests, and door prizes were won by Mrs. B. Fenton, presented by Victor Loly, and Mrs. Floyd Steele won a gift certificate from the Betty Rose Shop. Mrs. Charles Endicott gave a history of Anaheim, Mrs. Kenneth Banks gave information on the schools; Mrs. McFarland Tolf on churches, and Mrs. Ralph K. Wines on the local service clubs. Mrs. Harold Rankin presented each guest with a lovely corsage from Fred's House of Flowers. Shop Friday Night 'Til 9 TODAY'S CROSS-WORD PUZZLE Helpers Guild Spring Work Day Members of the Helpers Guild of the Episcopal church met at the parish hall Thursday for their annual Spring Work Day. The morning was spent preparing for their Christmas project. Luncheon was served at 1 p.m., followed by a business meeting when plans were discussed for a rummage sale in the fall. MINISTERS MEET Mr. and Mrs. Howard Congdon were hosts today to the Orange District associates of Presbyterian Ministers. Approximately 12 ministers and their families were present for the luncheon, after which the ministers attended a business meeting and the families enjoyed a social afternoon. The Rev. Congdon has just completed a year as president of the association. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Cheslick, of W. North st., returned this week from a three weeks vacation trip to Chicago. On the return trip they stopped in Colorado where they visited relatives and enjoyed a fishing trip in the mountains. Roast chicken has finished cooking when the flesh is slightly shrunken underneath the skin, the thick portions of breast and thigh prick tender, and the juice running out has no pink color. Friendship was stressed in devotions given by Mrs. Al Casebeer. Nan Moore announced the girls' summer camping period at Osceola will be August 19 to 26. Mrs. Kellogg welcomed the new president, Mrs. Harry Nutt, A gift of appreciation for her many services this past year was presented to Mrs. Kellogg on behalf of the Women's committee, by Mrs. Nutt, with an original poem on friendship. The gift was tied with a chain of friendship composed of different colored flowers in the center of which each member had written her name. Guests attending the luncheon were Mrs. Harry Nutt, Mrs. Al Casebeer, Mrs. J. A. Wood, Mrs. George Kohlenberger, Mrs. Richard Ryan, Mrs. Wm. Lewellyn, Mrs. Tommy Thomason, Mrs. A. H.
