TV-RADIOLOGIC Radio-TV Show Is Sending 'Queen For a Day' to Japan By TOM E. DANSON HOLLYWOOD — After holding this story for over two months, it finally has been worked out with the armed services to send a "Queen for a Day" winner to Tokyo, Japan, with the date for the broadcast set for July 23. All women attending the popular Jack Bailey classic will be asked to show proof that they are the wife or mother of a member of the Armed Forces serving under the Far East command, and with the winner named "Armed Forces Korean Queen," the candidates must tell on their admittance cards why they think they should be chosen. The regular method of picking candidates will be used, as Jack Bailey and Jim Morgan select 20 women from the studio audience. Five of these women will be the actual candidates for the coveted crown, and after the studio audience hears their stories, one will be chosen by applause. Philippine Airlines will fly the queen and a companion of her choosing direct to Tokyo, with stop-overs at Honolulu where she will be wined and dined by the Mutual affiliate KPOA. Her next brief stop will be at Wake Island, and then to Manila, Philippine Islands. The queen will stay in Manila for three days where she will be royally entertained by representatives of the press and prison bent over backwards he hired Jane Harvey for cambo, and Janie certainly appreciate this "break." Philippine Airlines will fly the queen and a companion of her choosing direct to Tokyo, with stop-overs at Honolulu where she will be wined and dined by the Mutual affiliate KPOA. Her next brief stop will be at Wake Island, and then to Manila, Philippine Islands. The queen will stay in Manila for three days where she will be royally entertained by representatives of the press and radio. She will arrive in Tokyo and will stay there for an eight-day rendezvous with her husband or son, as the case might be. After eight days in the Japanese capital, she will leave for San Francisco, and from there, she will be taken directly to her home, wherever it might be. In addition to the trip to Japan and back, the "Armed Forces Korean Queen" will be given a fabulous amount of other gifts, as is always the case on this popular daytime daily show. Here's one that friend Jack Bailey will have some fun with, for he has been waiting a long time to send one of his "queens" on a trip such as this, and thanks to the efforts of Charlie Forman of the queen organization, some wife or mother will be made mighty happy, as well as husband or son.
