Rinshed-Mason Plant Begins Third Year Of Manufacturing Paints, Varnishes Rinshed-Mason Company is positive evidence of the growing industrial potential of Anaheim and Orange county. This company has a productive capacity of 100,000 gallons per month of automotive and industrial paints, varnish and lacquer products. Beginning conversion operations in Anaheim in Sepetmber, 1950, at its location at 1244 N. Lemon st., Rinshed-Mason Company put out its first production batch of automotive undercoats in November, according to Edward S. Hawkins, general manager. Extensive installation of the latest and most efficient in production equipment is still underway with a large electric varnish and resin cooker now in production. Laboratory facilities include the finest in precision instruments for testing all phases of the paint materials. Rinshed-Mason Company's own development, the Tintometer, has made it possible for the R-M jobber to match literally hundreds of colors by stocking certain bases or standard colors and by blending these specified and predetermined proportions. Headquarters for the West Coast Division are in Detroit at 5935 Milford ave., where, under the direction of Frederick G. Weed, president, the company's products are being manufactured and sold nationally and abroad. Rinshed - Mason Company was evidenced by the Rinshed-Mason Company staff in its wholehearted interest and participation in civic and service club activities. Additional plant management includes Edward L. Robinson, shipping and service; Charles W. Finkgan, laboratory, and Fred L. Neidon, production. EDWARD S. Purchase of Good Farm Lands Getting Tough There are folks in Southern California—including the Anaheim area—who have the urge to "go back to the soil." But, not many of them are finding any soil available. Demand is fairly high, but the supply just isn't there. People who have groves and farms are reluctant to sell. Unless you have plenty of money, very good security, (or both), and are prepared to do a lot of land-hunting, you aren't too likely to start a big back-to-the-land movement right now. The limited availability of reasonably priced land is also causing some residential and industrial developers to look to the future with a wary and anxious eye. Best bets on obtaining land are said to be "inherited" land offered by administrators of estates for the benefit of all the heirs. (This should be handled by a reputable broker of experience, incidentally.) Then there is the absentee owner who may want to sell. Folks actively engaged in production on their lands have a good thing—and see increased valuations as California grows and progresses; consequently, they are not too inclined to pull up stakes unless they have an exceedingly bright offer. Many of the prospective farmers are young people wanting to get "on their own" or are bigger operators interested in anything that looks good. But, most prospective buyers today want small acreage with a home. The actual price in some cases may not be the most important item in the transaction if the purchaser can't pay all cash.
