Danagn Church Notes Bethel Baptist Bethel Baptist church and Sunday school is in the midst of an "Easter to Pentecost Attendance Crusade." Although the church fell just short of their goal last Sunday they are expecting to go beyond the goals set. Sunday morning Rev. Berthold Jacksteit, the pastor, will be speaking on "Our Perfect Intercessor." "Acts of Power, from The Book of Power," has been chosen for the Sunday evening message. If you need power in your life to live a better, and a more useful life, be sure and hear this sermon. Sunday afternoon at 4:15 the TNT's (young people) of Bethel Baptist church will give their second Western Gospel concert at Knott's Berry Farm. Last month the program was well received by the hundreds of people who stopped and listened to the gospel music. Christian Science Victory over death is gained through development of a spiritual understanding of God as eternal life and by abandoning the false material belief that man exists apart from God, declares the Sunday Bible lesson on the subject "Probation after Death" in all Christian Science churches. The Golden Text from Psalms (49:15) reads, "God will redeem First Baptist Baptist Education Sunday is to be observed at the First Baptist church, Broadway at Citron. This is the day set aside throughout the whole of the American Baptist convention for emphasizing the importance of higher education. At the 11 a.m. worship service, several of the college young people will assist Pastor Bob Kevorkian. The Pastor's message will be "The Principles of God's Judgment." Many have heard of the judgment of God but few know what is involved in God's course of action. What standards will God employ in His judgment upon individuals? What individuals will be judged by God? At the 7:30 p.m. service the college young people will assume full charge. Personal testimonies of college experience will be related by different ones. The messages will be given by the young people. Visitors are cordially invited to attend. A complete nursery is maintained during the morning service. Wesley Methodist In the absence of the Rev. William McKinley Walker, who is attending the general conference of the Methodist church at San Francisco, the Rev. L. O. Bostwick, retired La Habra pastor, will occupy the pulpit at Wesley Christian Science Victory over death is gained through development of a spiritual understanding of God as eternal life and by abandoning the false material belief that man exists apart from God, declares the Sunday Bible lesson on the subject "Probation after Death" in all Christian Science churches. The Golden Text from Psalms (49:15) reads, "God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me." According to a passage from The Acts (1:8, 9) Jesus said to his disciples, "Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me... unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight." In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes, "Our Master reappeared to his students,—to their apprehension he rose from the grave,—on the third day of his ascending thought, and so presented to them the certain sense of eternal life" (p. 509). Preparations are being made to receive several hundred visitors. An instructive program has been arranged, at which demonstrations of the many therapies employed in the treatment of mental illness will be presented by the psychiatrists and other members of the staff. When the campaign for hospital funds was started in 1945 by the Presbyterian church group, Martin offered to subscribe $100,000 when the county campaign reached a total of $400,000. This goal was achieved in 1946 and workers were heartened by the receipt of Martin's promised $100,000, making the total fund $500,000. Since that time the county subscription was increased to around $600,000 and still later in 1951 came the fine gift of $500,000, from the Hoag Foundation and this donation together with funds on hand enabled the board of directors of the hospital to go ahead with construction plans with the result that the hospital building today is about 70 per cent complete. All that is needed now are funds to furnish and equip the building, estimated at about $250,000. The campaign for this special fund is now under way and making progress. The majority of television stations are in the states north of the Ohio river and extending from the Atlantic to the Western plain area. Shipyards in Britain are busier than they have been for 30 years.
