10 Anaheim Gazette THURSDAY, APRIL 18, 1958 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Road Boosters Seek North-South Route in County A group or Northern Orange county "good road boosters" you yesterday toured the area to explore the possibilities of channeling some vehicular traffic around Northern Orange county cities rather than routing it through the communities. Boosters from Anaheim, Fullerton, Placentia, and Brea trek the entire distance of a proposed Highway 101 by-pass road to run north and south, beginning at Brea Canyon and terminating at the intersection of the Santa Ana Freeway (Highway 101) and Placentia ave. The road would skirt the cities of Brea and the through-traffic congestion areas of Anaheim and Fullerton. The caravan included delegations consisting of Chamber of Commerce, city and county officials, newspaper representatives of Brea, Anaheim, Fullerton and Placentia, led by Tom Yellis, chief man of the Transportation committee of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce and aided by County Supervisor Ralph McFadden and County Road Engineer Harold Sprenger. Starting at the corner of Placentia ave. and 101 Highway the caravan moved north over Placentia ave., thence to Harvan ave., through Fullerton to Assauldee. LEGAL NOTICES (Pub. IN THE SUPERIOR COURT OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF ORANGE In the Matter of the Estate of Anaheim County Hospital, Sprenger. Starting at the corner of Place centia ave. and 101 Highway the caravan moved north over Place centia ave., thence to Harvant ave., through Fullerton to Assisted rd. over the Fullerton Hill to the junction of Imperial high way. From this point the delegation proceeded north across county try over trails and oil company service roads to and over the Bre Hills to the Brea Canyon rd., blazing the way for the future possible location of an extension of Assisted rd. across Imperial highway to connect with Brea Canyon road a state highway. TOM YELLIS SAID that trip was highly successful because the delegation is in agreement that the construction of such a road feasible and that it would serve to relieve the ever-increasing traffic load of the busy streets in Bre Fullerton and Anaheim by channeling through traffic between Pioneona, a Snta Ana and beach area around the cities. Yellls also pointed out the serious predicament the entire north Orange county will be in as population grows with but one north south road, referring to Spadron through Fullerton Hills, a distance of nearly seven miles. Anaheim was represented by Earnie Moeller, Chamber of Commerce manager, George Holyoke city engineer and Tom Yellls, who will recommend the project to the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, the planning commission and the city council.
