Easter Seal Drive Lags; $8600 Raised
With only a little more than a week to go, the month-long Easter Seal campaign in Orange County has raised $9500, according to a report released by Lee Husenjager, president of the Orange County Society for Crippled Children and Adults.
In his report, Husenjager pointed out that the return are considerably behind schedule, and approximately a third less than the total contribution to the 1951 campaign.
"It is evident that contributions will have to come at an accelerated rate from now until Easter if the Crippled Children's Society is going to have sufficient funds for its 1952 program of assistance to the handicapped," he said.
He urged all residents of the county who have not mailed their contributions to do so at once.
"It is essential," he continued, that services to the county's handicapped not be curtailed. Our program in 1952 is going to require more money than ever before because of the increased cost of services we provide for the handicapped and because of the growing number of people needing our help who are coming to our attention."
Husenjager pointed out that the society has a five-day-a-week schedule of classes to aid handicapped youngsters and adults; plus its other services, that must be financed through the public's contribution.
