Candidates to Address GOP Women at YMCA
A program of unusual interest has been planned by the Anaheim Republican Women's club for tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. when the five congressional candidates on the Republican ticket will each present a 10 minute talk. A question and answer period will follow.
The public is cordially invited to attend the open meeting. Mrs. Gerald Endicott will hostess the reception to follow the meeting.
Mrs. Gloria Coleman, 7911 E. Cerritos ave., has recovered from an illness.
Enjoying themselves for dinner and dancing recently at the Balboa Bay club were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sympson of Anaheim.
Round Table Fashion Show Is Smart Affair
"Americana," a theme taken from a current issue of Vogue, keynoted the recent fashion show sponsored by the Placentia Round Table at Balboa Bay club.
Table decorations were in a patriotic motif and fashion angle was introduced through the use of oldtime dressmaker forms and an early sewing machine.
The group of fashions portrayed the American woman in many phases of her varied activity; the globe trotter, country living, summer evenings. Highlighting the afternoon was the "abrim with beauty" sequence, devoted entirely to new Spring hats by leading name designers. Outstanding items were a short formal in delicate grey Chantilly lace over pink permanent pleated nylon, over silk taffeta, over crinoline, with its own lace Spencer jacket. A group of imported linen dresses for afternoon and evening featured a new Spanish type all-over embroidery sprinkled with rhinestones and pearls outlining neckline and pockets.
"Spinning a yarn in silk" featured printed silk surahs, shantung's and antique pure silk taffeta shantung.
Models included, from Anaheim.
Redmen Talk to Cub Scouts
Chief Rolling Cloud and Chief Pushmataha, of the Muskogee area, Cherokee Indian tribe, respectively, of eastern Oklahoma, entertained the Anaheim Elks sponsors. Cubs last Friday night. The team was given at the regular monthly meetfng of the Pack at the Horse Mann school auditorium. Standing room only was available when the meeting started.
Chief Rolling Cloud stated that they, the Redmen, are erroneously called Indians by the majority of the people of the country. This because Christopher Columbus thought he had discovered India when he actually landed on the new continent in 1492. The nai has stuck. Rolling Cloud sang some Redmen songs, answered questions and gave a very interesting program.
Awards were also given to some of the Cubs at the meeting.
Accordion renditions were given by Don Parson and Norman Padock, while Jim Endicott gave reading, on the "Baby Picture." All three were enthusiastically received.
Wolf badges were awarded by Jim Endicott, Mike Coffman and Dennis Carlson.
Lion badges to Carl Roberts and Lynn Wayne Ference. Ferem also received a gold arrow polo on his Lion rank. Silver arrow points were also given to Jill Swenson and Norman Paddock Gold arrow points to David Young Hank Harvey and Mike Gilpin Gilpin also received his Denny stripes. Denner and assistant Denny stripes were also earned and given to Corky Rogers. Herbe
