As the creaking of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool.—Ecc 7:6.
NOSTALGIA—History is little more than a register of man's fortunes and misfortunes. A year ago today Allied troops took three bitterly defended hills, but failed to crack the Red defense line in Korea. Attorney General Edmund Brown promised to clean up the rackets in California. A. H. VanderVoon's home was damaged by fire. Warren Kusce's car was stolen. The Board of Supervisors allocated $200 to Public Defender N. D. Meyer to hire doctors to aid Cordella Green who was on trial for murder. Orange County's Own—including Anaheim's Co. K—were sated for overseas duty. Jean Filadeleia became Mrs. Lowell Ledford. Carmen Lopez walked down the center aisle with Fernando Holquin. Death claimed Joseph A. Ames, 80, a native Californian who was born in San Diego and spent his last 50 years in Anaheim. That's what history recorded a year ago. Rememoer?
MEMO—Hudson Harrison may win the State Yo-Yo title provided he can subdue Angelo Biondo, the Fullerton lad who would like nothing better than to beat the little coach's paradise. Pe have made it rough mighty outstanding man.

DEATH claimed Joseph A. Ames, 80, a native Californian who was born in San Diego and spent his last 50 years in Anaheim. That's what history recorded a year ago. Rememoir?
MEMO—Hudson Harrison may win the State Yo-Yo title provided he can subdue Angelo Itondo, the Fullerton lad who would like nothing better than to beat the little Anaheimer. You see they're friendly rivals.
MISTAKE—In a lot of ways the tenure system (under which school teachers are given lifetime jobs) is a mistake.
Wait Lunsford, the Fullerton college coach, has been handed his walking papers. T. Stanley Warburton, Fullerton school superintendent, has already informed the jaysee track coach that he would not be rehired.
Tex Oliver and Tom Phillips likewise won't be back to coach Fullerton teams next year.
Neither Oliver nor Phillips was an outstanding as Lunsford. He was the first real track-and-field coach Fullerton college ever had.
Warburton left himself wide open for public criticism by relying on his so-called "administrative council" which is composed of about 20 department heads—few of which know or care anything about athletics.
If Coach Lunsford desires, we'll review his case publicly; Warburton said when students demonstrated in behalf of their coach. It might be better if the entire procedure were reviewed. That "administrative council" sounds like a brain-storm.
TOUGH—Fullerton coach's paradise. People have made it rough and mighty outstanding man.
The late Arthur L. Nettle the best coaches any student had, wasn't too happy treatment he received due to greec conscious adminisstration.
Though Nunn was the partiment head she since Glenn Lewis became pal, he was squeezed out because he didn't have the right degree.
Jimmy Smith, one of aquatic coaches in the world that's no exaggeration, happy with what he had up with as head of the dude stepped down.
REASON—There must be some mighty weren't happy at Fullerton Bishop, a really old man; Ed Goddard, an amateur footballer; Wendel Pielent Orange Coast colleague head; Johnny Mt. San Antonio college and others who never shaking the dust off from their shoes. Why?
NITECAPSULE—Why so many folks worry about they can take it when it would be wise about getting it first.

ENVOY TO ITALY—Misworth Bunker, United States Ambassador to Argentina, has been nominated by President Truman to be Ambassador to Italy, succeeding James C. Dunn.

TOUGH—Fullerton college isn't a coach's paradise. Petty politics have made it rough for some mighty outstanding man.
The late Arthur L. Nunn, one of the best coaches any school ever had, wasn't too happy with the treatment he received by a "degree conscious administration."
Though Nunn was the best department head the school had since Glenn Lewis became principal, he was squeezed out because he didn't have the right kind of degree.
Jimmy Smith, one of the best aquatic coaches in the world (that's no exaggeration), wasn't happy with what he had to put up with as head of the department. He stepped down.
REASON—There must be a reason why some mighty good men weren't happy at Fullerton. Clarence Bishop, a really outstanding man; Ed Goddard, an all-American footballer; Wendel Pickens, present Orange Coast college department head; Johnny Arramau, Mt. San Antonio college cox and others who never regretted shaking the dust of Fullerton from their shoes. Why?
NITECAPSULE—Why is it that so many folks worry about whether they can take it with them when it would be wiser to worry about getting it first.
