John Scott to Discuss America's Foreign Policy at Forum Meeting
Agreements and understandings between nations throughout the world, as well as awareness of forces at work of a political and economic nature between governments of world powers, are part of the vital business of "America's Foreign Policy—1932." To be discussed from the standpoint of a critical observer and foreign correspondent for Time magazine, John Scott, at Fullerton's Public Forum Thursday evening, March 6, in Fullerton union high school auditorium. The lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. and is open to all free of charge, announces Moderator Walter Pray.
Seeking an environment of peaceful progress together with preparedness to defend liberties of the American people, the United States government has embarked on a program so vast and so complicated within recent years that it often takes an expert in international relations and power politics to see and interpret the true aspects of world conditions. Correspondent Scott is well qualified to comment on such aspects from wide experience, travel, and training in objective reasoning.
Living in Russia for eight years before World War II and later reporting on the same war from Moscow, Stockholm, Berlin, and Tokyo, Scott accumulated a background of information concerning European and Asiatic affairs, based upon eye-witness experiences. Opinions held by the speaker are significant; as he pyramids fact upon fact—from actual findings and wide reading—to support his conclusions.
Author of several books, including Duel for Europe, Europe in Revolution, Behind the Urals, Scott was Philadelphia-born and educated in New York, in Switzerland and at the University of Wisconsin. He reported for the New York Times, later became correspondent for the London New Chronicle and traveled through parts of the USSR, Iran and Iraq, Turkey, and Balkan countries.

FARM FERTILIZER GUIDE AVAILABLE
A fertilizer guide has been prepared by the Orange county office of the Agricultural Extension Service to assist farmers in evaluating the analysis of various kinds of fertilizer materials being used on local farms.
Long time experiments by the Citrus Experiment Station have revealed that nitrogen is the most important deficient element in Orange county and Southern California soils. Very few soils have shown phosphate deficiency so far in Orange county and potash, says Farm Advisor Harold E. Wahlberg.
Where manures and other organic fertilizers are used regularly some nitrogen is added, as well as phosphate and potash. He points out that for mature citrus orchards about 2 to 3 pounds of nitrogen are required per tree.
The fertilizers listed in the recent schedule include sulfate of ammonia 20.5 per cent nitrogen at 14.5 cents per pound of nitrogen it contains; calcium nitrate 15.5 per cent N at 20 cents; ammonium phosphate 16 per cent at 27 cents; ammonium nitrate 33 per cent at 14.2 cents; nugreen 45 per cent at 14.1 cents; liquid ammonium 82 per cent at 10-10-5 mix 10 per cents and 8-8-4 mix 34.5 cents per pound.
Steer manure at 2 trogen has 10 pounds per ton; dairy manure at N has 14 pounds per ton; and poultry has 60 pounds of N.
Organic sludges vary to 6 per cent nitrogen on their processing.
Mudgues should be bounc analysis basis, says the Visor.

Audrey Callaway
In Fleet Games
Along with other crewmen serving aboard the attack transport USS Bayfield, Audrey B. Callaway, quartermaster seaman, USN, of 147 W. Center, Anaheim, Callif, recently participated in the largest Pacific Fleet training exercises held since the Korean outbreak.
The exercises called "Lex Baker One," took place off the coast of Southern California. Over 70 ships and 15,000 men of the Navy and the newly activated Third Marines participated.
Really was added to the mock war games by assuming that lower California and several islands off the shore had been captured by an "aggressor" enemy. The Navy's problem was the retaking of the enemy-field islands through amphibious assaults.
Ships of all types were used in the exercises including submarines and aircraft carriers.
"Aggressor" submarines and planes made repeated "attacks" in harassing the task force, adding even more reality to the operation.
The first long-distance telephone call staged by Alexander Graham Bell was between Brantford, Ontario, and the village of Paris, Ontario.
Anaheim Beaman Returns on Repose
Alva McCarthy, commissioner of beaman, USW, 80th of Mrs. Doldres McCarthy of 1127 W. Broadway, Anaheim, Calif., recently returned to the United States while serving aboard the hospital ship USS Repose, known as the "Angel of the Orient" for its treatment of 11,000 soldiers with only 33 deaths.
The Repose, a 14,000-ton floating hospital with 800 beds, has spent the past 16 months in Korea near the front lines within easy reach of battlefield casualties.
In one action near Chinnampo, Korea, the Repose inched its way through 50 miles of dangerously shallow channel in order to evacuate more than 750 wounded United Nations soldiers before they were trapped in a gigantic communist offensive. This made it necessary for the crew to work around the clock for 60 hours in one of the great rescue operations of the war.
There are approximately 44,000 persons living on the Caribbean island of Antigua.
