How to treat your telephone
The best way to spruce up your telephone is to polish it with a soft, dry cloth...never with water or any other liquid. You'll find that it'll always be ready to serve you better, too, if you keep these simple pointers in mind: Avoid "gadget" attachments...keep cords free of doorways where they may be pinched...and always keep water away from wires and fittings.

So make sure the stand your telephone sits on is solid...

Murders of Hiroshima A-Bombing
and a half years have passed at Mary Tamura, California-Japanese-American girl, still remembers the gruesome use of wholesale death and deposition which followed the attack on Hiroshima.
At the time of the blast but not the time of the blast but with slight injuries. How many others were killed, were injured, and 13,983 had missing.
A reserve WAVE employed a civilian at the Treasure Naval station, San Francisco, to recite her nightmarish rence to emphasize the urgency for a well-trained Civilian organization in every nokia community.
Tamura spoke yesterday about guest of Maj. Gen. Walter Robertson, state director of defense, on the weekly state-broadcast presented by the Nokia Office of Civil Defense. Reciting the masses of in-weeking to escape from the city, Miss Tamura told the audience: "I was a terrible sight. Many had their clothes all burned off. Many had great blisters on their faces, their hair burned off. And there were many with their hands just dangling helplessly as they ran holding their arms in front of them. It was a terrible sight—one which I will never forget.
Miss Tamura, her parents and two brothers and two sisters, went to Japan in 1938 to visit relatives. She was attending high school when the war broke out and later, with members of her school class, was assigned to work in a cigarette factory.
On the day of the attack, she recalled she didn't hear the explosion. But she saw the blinding flash of light and the destruction that followed.
"I was at work in the middle of a large room where quite a few of us girls were packing cigarettes," she related. "It was at 8:15 a.m., that all of a sudden there was a terrific bright flash of light. It was just like a million flash bulbs had been set off all at once. I just dropped on the floor right where I was working. I just dropped flat immediately and covered my eyes and ears with my hands. I didn't even reach for my helmet, which was alongside of me on the bench where I was working."
"When the force of the blast wave from the explosion hit the building, it was just about wrecked. The glass from the windows and the glass from the skylight were all blown to pieces."
When she was able to leave the factory, she said, she found the city a mass of flames shooting skyward. All about were the dead and injured.
Next week's California Office of Civil Defense broadcast will present a Medal of Honor man's view of Civil Defense.

Eire, as most of the island known today, is circled by hills along the coasts, Nagel plained, with the central and limestone plain. Large areas oak and moorland make widespread soil cultivation impossible, most of Ireland is covered in grass to make it a vast pasture. Thus cattle, pigs and sheep are her important agricultural products.
Beautiful scenery abounds in the Killarney lake region and the wild, mournful Conner cliff area. Intense green evaneswhere, the traditional Irish creek results from cloudy and weather with heavy, almost stant rainfall.
Historically, Eire has suffered one of the most severe depopulations of any civilized country; six million people inhabiting island a century ago, only half remain today. A potato line started mass emigration so many coming to America in the years that it is said there more Irish descendants here than in Eire itself.
The Celtic ancestors in this century were the most advanced in North Europe. Schools teach the native Gaelic, which widely used in rural life two-thirds of the population living.
Leading crop is still the potato Nagel revealed, still the main of Irish diet as it has been since introduction from America in 1700's. Today Eire is largely country of small farms.
