Anaheim Gazetteer
by JOHN S. NEUBAUER
... Man that is born of woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
—Job 14:1.
ANAHEIM YESTERYEAR — A year ago Anaheimers were reading about: How various county factions were settling their differences so that the sanitation program could be started ... How meat packers were ordered to roll back their prices ... How F. R. Wilcox of the fruit growers exchange told the 23rd annual Citrus Institute that there was a brilliant future for frozen fruit concentrates ... Earl Edney was exhonored on a charge that he failed to yield the right-of-way to a highway patrol car with which the truck he was driving collided ... Thomas Alden, executive vice-president of the Robertshaw-Fulton Co., told the planning commission what his concern would do for Anaheim ... John E. Welch, 22, of Anaheim, was wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of a soldier ... The Santa Ana Kennel club will present 1100 dogs of all breeds at its annual show at La Palma park, it was announced ... Sam Collins was the speaker at the Fremont school's School Ass'n meet ... Ina Pickard bowled a 523 and Henry Del Giorgio carded a 600 in a Santana bowling match ... Death took Mrs. Emily Ruiz, 60 ... Sheldon Welch, Ron Faulkner and Ira Webber think Anaheim's able city council should take cognizance of this nuisance.
MENDING—John (Sky) Dunlap, the Santa Ana newspaper-man, who with Herman (Himmelhoche) Hoch organized the Tall Fellows club while attending Santa Ana college prior to the Roosevelt era, is mending from his automobile accident. Sky was on his way to Ellay when he met misfortune in Anaheim. He has nothing but praise for the efficient method the Anaheim police and the Crane Ambulance service came to his rescue. "I'm not exactly tailor-made for stretchers and hospital equipment," he said commenting on the fact that a seven-foot bed was rushed to the Santana Community hospital. Sky who has been around (having been with the United Press in Salt Lake City, Sacramento, Los Angeles Hollywood) marveled at the efficiency of the Anaheim gendarmes and the ambulance crew. Sky is a good guy! Even at a time when his aches pain, he's praising the other guy. We wish him a speedy recovery.
BOQUET—It is also appropriate to sing the praises of Ernest Crane for having provided Northern Orange county with a quick, efficient ambulance service. Prior to his entering the business after the war, it was not uncommon for injured and dying to lay in the street for hours before an ambulance could be expedited.
COLUMNIST'S CARROUSEL—Bobby Ross had a heart-to-heart talk with the draft people. He learned that while his number may be up, he'll still find it possible to go to Floriday for at least part of the spring training. He left

THE Santa Ana Kennel club will present 1100 dogs of all breeds at its annual show at La Palma park, it was announced... Sam Collins was the speaker at the Fremont school's School Ass'n meet... Ina Pickard bowled a 523 and Henry Del Giorgio carded a 600 in a Santana bowling match... Death took Mrs. Emily Ruiz, 60... GRIPE—Anaheim must be a dawg's paradise, because hounds are always on the loose. Dogs run the streets quite freely. They dart in front of cars. Tain't the dawg's fault. It's his master's. Don't you
