WEATHERWISE—Not bad! The storm that has been teasing Anaheimers during the week-end really didn't materialize into anything big.
NEWSWISE—American Legion's County Council made no decision as to what action to take against David Aaron, its adjutant, who admitted that he was a member of the communist party. William (Abs) Wheeler of Fullerton, chief investigator for the House Un-American committee was the main speaker ... Anaheim employees of the Northrop Aircraft plant are to benefit by the $629,400 pay hike ... A $750,000 school of nursing will be the next Orange County hospital project. Supervisors indicated that the money would be raised in hospital taxes during the next two fiscal years. R. D. Powell is the hospital director ... The Orange County Planning commission vetoed a proposed Buena Park Church of Christ on the ground that it was too close to the Fullerton airport.
Military Brains Study Proposals
LISBON, Portugal (AP)—Some of the best military brains of the 12 Atlantic Allies met today to study proposals for intensifying the rearmament drive to defend the west.
In the opening preliminary to the meeting here Feb. 20 of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) council, the NATO military committee started a searching evaluation of recommendations by W. Averell Hurriman's 12-man committee of experts.
Reliable sources said the Allied chiefs of staff generally considered as fair the report on how the west can most efficiently step up rearmament; but that some believe its long range recommendations are woolly.
Sessions to beat Anahi 42-40.
TRAFEIC—From all indications, Orange county highway fatalities will surpass all records. Last year seven deaths were recorded to date; this year it's three more. Charles A. Boster, 61, of Santa Ana, was killed in a three-car smashup at Seal Beach; and Ayako M. Kato, 26, of Ellay, died of injuries sustained in a wreck with a car driven by Robert Odam, 45, of Hollywood. Do your part. Play safe!

COURTOPIX — Mitchy Naumcheff, former Arizona sheriff's deputy, was found guilty of two counts of grand theft, including the "loan" he obtained from the Anaheim branch of the Bank of America... Quick action on the part of Fullerton Detective Herb Curtis landed Henry Hughes, 63, "pants burglar" suspect, in jail on a 30-day vagrancy charge. Police admit that they have a "tough case" in trying to prove that their suspect is the "pants burglar" who has been active in Orange county for more than a year... SPORTOPIX — Although Valencia and Laguna Beach will be co-champions of the Orange county league, the Artists are to enter the CIF little schools playoff. Anaheim was enlightened by the news that the Hollywood Stars would use "the world's most beautiful spring training camp" this year. Victor Ford Collins has mailed contracts to 28 players... Huntington Beach won the Capistrano Class C Cage tourney. Tommy Wahner of Laguna was voted the outstanding player... James Roy Smith, Fullerton college coach, has come up with two potential Olympic swimmers. Jerry McNamee undoubtedly will make the Canadian team, while Don Harper of Redwood City, is rated a strong contender for the American diving team... Fullerton college and San Bernardino will settle the jaysee cage title when they meet. The Swarm stung Orange Coast, 85-52, bouncing back from a 49-46 upset by Mt. San Antonio... Huntington Beach's undefeated cagers are just a game away from a perfect season, but it took second-place Newport two over-time sesse.
