The winner, who defeated 375 entries from 22 nations, was 37-year-old John Jones, who shakes 'em up behind a swanky Mayfair bar. The "Tiger Lily": One third lillet, a French aperitif. One third van der huw, a South African liquer. One sixth French votrix. One sixth maraschino. A small segment of orange. Second place was taken by John Jessiman of Glasgow, with a rum-base "Kelvin Kiss" and third by R. D. Frost of Grantham, England, with a brandy-base "Dancing Pat." Six American contestants dropped out after the first round. Local Company Announces Changes In Eastern Offices Personnel changes at the Detroit Rinshed-Mason Co. have been announced this week by Edward S. Hawkins general manager of the company's west coast division, which is a branch of the Detroit plant. William R. Barrett has been elevated to the board of directors as vice-president in charge of sales. Joseph R. Mason has been elected to the board of directors as assistant secretary of the company. Arthur W. Byrum has been appointed comptroller and assistant treasurer. Both Mason and Byrum have made extended visits to the Anaheim plant during the past year, according to Hawkins, who announced the promotions. MORE ABOUT ... Davis appealed to fellow members of the Stanton Lions Club, at their dinner meeting Monday night, to assist the Chamber of Commerce to secure a fire station, the lot for which Davis donated last year. Calvin Pebley, president, appointed the chairmen S. S. Murakoa of the Civic improvement committee and Davis, Civic Betterment committee, to assist and to select their assistant committee members as the occasion demands. Charles Brothers, chairman of Boy Scout Troop 82, asked the club to help the scouts give a public spaghetti dinner in the clubhouse next month. Robert Cole reported that the first of the weekly series of February open house parties was a marked success and invited everyone to bring their friends tomorrow night to the second party, in the club at 10571 S. Chestnut st. Royal C. Marten was program chairman and presented the famous “Wiggly Block” to all the group to study and gave a mechanical aptitude test that revealed Robert Eriksen and Brothers as the most skilled in this type of endeavor. Marten is counselor at the Santa Ana Junior College and very expert at vocational guidance. Mrs. Pearl Rube of the Lady Lions acted as hostess at the roast beef dinner. County Gets State Airport Allocation State Controller Thomas H. Kuchel yesterday announced allocation of $197,701.54 to cities and counties. OILERS FALTER IN WEST SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Supremacy of the vaunted Phillips Oilers from Bartlesville, Okla., as far as Bay Area basketball fans are concerned, has been switched to the home grounds. The Oilers were dumped last night by Stewart Chevrolets, 48 to 41, and by Oakland Engineers Monday night 56 to 48. The two national industrial league games broke a 23-game Oiler win streak. The teams meet again tonight. ARNEY EVANS INJURED Arney D. Evans, 36, Willowbrook, received head and internal injuries at 1:30 a.m. today in an automobile collision on Manchester ave., northwest of Grand ave., Buena Park. Evans' car struck the rear of a car driven by Frederick W. Carter, 36, of Oceanside. Evans was taken to the Long Beach Veteran's hospital. OLIVE RESIDENT HURT Mrs. Flora Lahania Fairbairn, 65, of Olive, was slightly hurt in a Santa Ana traffic accident yesterday afternoon, her car colliding with a car driven by Albert T. Mitchell, 29, Norwalk, as she was crossing Santa Ana blvd. or Flower st. at 3:20 p.m. Mitchell was uninjured. Mrs. Fairbairn, according to a Santa Ana police report, received a lump on her head but declined medical aid and drove her car away. COUNTY GETS STATE AIRPORT Allocation State Controller Thomas H. Kuchel yesterday announced allocation of $197,701.54 to cities, and counties of the State for capital outlay on airports. The funds, Kuchel said, are derived from taxes paid on aviation gasoline, which have not been refunded to purchasers due to lack of a claim, from July 1 to December 31, 1951. The controller said that a revision of the state law now provides for the apportionment on an annual, instead of a semi-annual basis, and the next allocation will be made as soon as possible after December 31, 1952. The money, according to state law, may be used for capital outlay at airports maintained and operated by cities and counties. Of the total apportioned, Orange County receives $2,838.68, while apportionments to cities within the county are Fullerton, $1,419.34. CLOTHING STOLEN Clothing valued at $60 was stolen from the automobile of M/Sgt. Roy B. Litton, El Toro Marine, while it was parked on a lot at Fourth and French sts... Santa Ana, last night, police reported. Cash and chewing gum to the value of $10.30 were stolen from Val's cafe at 1646 E. First st., Santa Ana. A year is a bout 11 minutes less than 365% days long.
