For Results and Quick Florida Mutual Gets Government Orange Contract LAKELAND, Fla.—The decision of the Agriculture Department to give Florida two concentrate orders in one season—the first time this had been done—was announced in Washington by Rep. Syd Herlong of Leesburg. Bids must be in by 0 a.m., Feb. 5 and delivery made between Feb. 14 and March 14. A. V. Saurman, general manager of Citrus Mutual, estimated the $1,000,000 order would call for about 800,000 gallons of concentrate and use up about 650,000 boxes of oranges. That is roughly the same size as the government purchase last December. The concentrate will be used for the federal school lunch program. Both Mutual and the Growers Administrative committee had asked the Agriculture Department to increase its concentrate purchases to move more Florida oranges and help prices along. Mutual moved to set up the quota machinery after deciding to stick to its floor price of $2.15 a box for fresh oranges. There is no open season on beaver in the United States. Individual states, however, designate limited periods when beaver may be trapped if there is an oversupply.
