Water Supply
of urgently needed Colorado river water, said Griffith. Another reason he cited for opposing it is the huge tax burden of $2,075,-729,000 that it would cost the nation's taxpayers. California taxpayers would have to pay $172,-101,000, or that amount, Griffith pointed out.
The Colorado River association which Griffith heads is a non-partisan citizens organization formed to protect California's rights to a share of Colorado river water. It represents the interests of approximately 4,000,000 persons living in Los Angeles and 38 other cities from Santa Monica to San Diego that are members of the Metropolitan Water district.
Also represented in the association are the people of Imperial, Coachella and Palo Verde valleys, all of which depend upon Colorado river water for irrigation and domestic uses.

ANAHEIM TODAY appears in this aerial photograph taken by Pacific Air Industries from a height of 2500 feet. The view shows Anaheim as it spreads out from its southeastern corner (looking generally northwest). To get the lay of the land, the white numerals indicate the following landmarks: (1) the new Daystrom furniture plant in southeast Anaheim, (2) Kwikset Locks, Inc., (3) W. Center st. at approximately the high school, (4) the new Robertshaw-Fulton plant on Manchester, (5) La Palma stadium and park, and (6) the north end industrial area.
Anaheim Forges Ahead in Industry, Population in 1951; Housing Short
Anaheim is closing out a bumper year. According to statistics analyzed by the Chamber of Commerce, the population has increased by almost 2000 persons to a 1951 high of an estimated 16,500 residents. (The city's population was placed by the 1950 federal census at 14,522 persons.) During 1952, large industrial plants including Northrop aviation, Robertshaw-Fulton, Daystrom furniture, U. S. Electric Motors and perhaps others are expected to lure at least 2500 working men and women and their families to the Anaheim area.
Several large housing projects for Anaheim and environs are in the planning stage and will begin to rise soon. In the year 1952, persons interested in city planning state that a real need will appear in Anaheim for moderately priced rental housing to induce newcomers to move into Anaheim and become a part of the city's civic and business life.
It is reasoned that the more people moving to Anaheim increases the interest and activity in churches, schools, clubs and service groups, etc., and provides stimulation for a balanced and complete retail shopping center.
Apparently, 1951 has been the banner year for Anaheim in industrial expansion: In all likelihood 1952 is set to be a banner year in accommodation of the families moving here to man the new industrial plants.
