SAN FRANCISCO (P) — Nine persons suffered minor injuries when two Greyhound buses on the same Los Angeles-San Francisco run were involved in separate head-on collisions last night. G. Hillary, Mrs. J. E. Wal- thropies. Two new sustaining members were welcomed, Mrs. J. E. Schumacher and Mrs. Clyde Cromer. One new provisional member, Mrs. Edward Power, was also welcomed. The prize was won by Mrs. Sustaining Members of Assistance League Honored at Luncheon by Board Honoring the sustaining members, Anaheim Assistance League met yesterday at the home of Mrs. Harry Pearson with members of the board as hostesses: They included Mrs. John Wilson, Mrs. J. G. Hillary, Mrs. J. E. Walters, Mrs. Harry Nutt, Mrs. V. W. Borden, Mrs J Ben Kaulbars, Mrs. Glenn Peck, Mrs. A. F. Eliott and Mrs. Ernest Ganahl. A business meeting followed the luncheon when reports were made on all activities since June for the benefit of the sustaining members. Mrs. Nutt, projects chairman, reported on all fall philanthropies. Two new sustaining members were welcomed, Mrs. J. E. Schumacher and Mrs. Clyde Cromer. One new provisional member, Mrs. Edward Power, was also welcomed. The prize was won by Mrs. George Paige. Under the direction of Mrs. George Sloop, a choir from Anaheim High School presented a program of Christmas music. A small year book was distributed for the first time this year. Included in the cast were Dennis Robinson, Larry Secrist, Dick Taylor, Cheryl Barnes, Karen Heinrick, Henry Brookman, Marcella Whitehead, Frank Lopz, Rebecca Jackstelt and James Hampton. Mrs. Margaret Haugh, third grade teacher, directed the show. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Dove Ford. The flag salute was presented by three Girl Scouts. After the close of the meeting, the Fremont school orchestra directed by Mr. Ted Bourne, played four selections. Margaret Haugh, third grade teacher, directed a play called "The Shoemaker's Guest," with a choir of 27 children singing carols in between acts. These youngsters put on a very good show. A solo was given by Diane Felbaum, "Santa Claus Express," accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Fred Krastel. Margaret Marchant, third grade teacher, conducted a choir of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th grade children in three Christmas Carols and finished the program by conducting a community sing of four Christmas carols. Crusade Plan Discussed at WSCS Meeting Merrie Martha circle was hostess at luncheon yesterday to members of White Temple WSCS at the church. A prayer group led by Mrs. J. S. Kerr preceded the business meeting. Luncheon program featured reading, "When Christmas Comes" by Mrs. C. I. Andrews; Mrs. H. J. Fackiner opened the business meeting with the singing of Christmas carols and Mrs. Charles Rinehart led devotions. Mrs. Frank Butterworth, wife of the pastor, who serves as Southern California-Arizona conference student secretary talked on "Offering Our Gifts." She traced the idea of offering gifts to the Lord down through the years. In explaining the crusade scholar plan she said that this is one of the ways in which the Methodist church has tried to share adding, that one and a half million dollars have been spent to bring promising students here from other lands. The program soloist was Mrs. Earl Ryan accompanied by Mrs. Virginia Burke. Decorations chairmen were Mrs. Warren Ashleigh and Mrs. Elme Hamilton. Oliphant also acknowledged that he let a tax prosecution case drop because of the interest of a member of Congress, Rep. James Morrison (D-Ala). He said he did it despite instructions from his own boss that the case should be pressed. The "tip" Oliphant passed to Caudle was brought out under questioning from Rep. Byrnes (R-Wis). Byrnes said Caudle told the investigators in a secret session last Nov. 2 that Oliphant had given him that word and also had warned him that a house committee wanted his tax returns. Oliphant denied that he had told Caudle the committee had requested his tax papers.
