HISTORICAL NOTES — Since George Hansen, purchased 1165 acres from Juan Pacifico Ontiveras for $2,000 an acre, property values in Anaheim have steadily risen. A lot of Anaheimers have shown considerable interest in the history of their city. FOUNDER — Who was the founder of Anaheim? Anaheim is rather unique in that it did not have a founder. A colony of 50 San Franciscans of Germanic extraction had George Hansen select a suitable Southern California site for their wine-growing adventure. DEVELOPERS — What prompted the 'founders' of other cities to establish townsites? Many of Southern California cities came into being with the early land booms of the 1860's.
