Make certain that you regularly eat a proper diet. Ing—while you sip a soda, when you work, when you shake hands and even when you talk. They are constantly in the lime light and great age-betrayers too. As home-makers, we all try to avoid that occupational bugaboo known as "dishpan hands" through the use of good hand lotions and creams. To my way of thinking there already has been too much said on that subject so let's talk about nail care instead. House work is certainly hard on the fingernails so from time to time it is a good idea to get out the nail kit and take time out to give one's self a professional home manicure. Right after a bath, when the nails and cuticle are soft and pliable is a good time for this. You have your own method and I have mine. Let's see if we can pick up any pointers from a professional beauty expert. First, remove old polish with an oil-enriched polish remover. Wipe polish down toward tip. Repeat until all traces of polish are gone. Now work an emery board from side to center into almond or oval shape. Do not file too close at the sides since this weakens the nails and causes hang nails and callouses. Soak fingers in soapy water. Clean under and around nails with manicure brush. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Apply a good cuticle remover and use the flat end of a cotton tipped orangewood stick to push the cuticle gently back and free from nail surface. Never cut cuticle except at corner of nails. Use white nail pencil under the nail tip when the fingernails are to be left unpolished or when colorless polish is worn. Give nails a final touch of polish remover to remove all traces of soap and film. Then apply an undercoat to protect the nails and give a smoother surface for polish. Apply your favorite shade of nail polish, doing the difficult hand first so that repairs can easily be made without smudging the nails. When first coat of polish is thoroughly dry, apply second coat. Top this with a glossy finish to heighten brilliance and add days of extra wear. There are skin preparations to enhance the beauty of each type of skin. If you are out of the habit of walking when going a reasonable distance, get back into it. 4. Your face reflects your state of mind. Worry and unpleasant thoughts are mirrored in your facial expressions. Be cheerful and concentrate on the more pleasant things in life. 5. A proper rest is essential to good health so you will want to develop good sleeping habits to combat fatigue. As the seasons change, so changes the color and condition of your skin. Look at your make-up with a critical eye. Check make-up base, face powder, lipstick, harmonizing rouge, etc., to be sure, that it is still the best shade and blend for you.
