Happiness in the Home Vital to Child Adjustment, Speaker Tells Fremont P-TA Speaking on Children Still Come First — Where Happy Homes Abound, Donald Bridgman of Orange Coast college advised parents at this month's meeting of Fremont P-TA that "to have happy homes, we must first be happy with ourselves, happy with ourmates, have a good feeling tone between Mother, Dad, and child. Our children are more impressed by what we are than what we say, so we should set a good example for them. We should grow up with our children." The flag salute was led by girls of Girl Scout Troop 4. Miss Adah Louise Wilcox gave the inspirational "A Thanksgiving Prayer." Mrs. George Kohlenberger, parliamentarian, read the changes in the by-laws of the association. They were voted on and accepted. Mrs. J. Lee Rogers, school board member, spoke on the special school election to be held Dec. 11, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voting to be in each local elementary school. Paul Cook, superintendent of schools, told of the school survey by members of local P-TA's to take place Nov. 26 through Nov. 30, to determine how many children will come into the school next year. and is to be returned to school Monday. Mrs. Otto Wittesch, recreation chairman, is working with Don Derrr, city recreation director, who will be in charge of the dances. Grease drive for Nov. 29. Slogan "How about some grease? Just a pound apiece—To help our P-TA—Along its merry way." Grease to be brought to the school in tin or paper containers. Hostesses for the evening were room mothers A-1 and A-2, Mrs. Walter Taylor, Mrs. O. G. Thomason, Mrs. H. J. Bircher, and Mrs. Ernest Daniels. Coffee and homemade pumpkin pie was served. Ley and Johnson are both members of the Spectrum club artists' group of painters in Beach. Johnson played the harmed and guitar with McClure on musical saw. This talented sical duo was followed by Rumfelt from Santa Ana Ju College assisted by Miss E Brattlof of Anaheim Union School who delighted the kids with special magical tricks. Arthur Nieblas of Santa teacher at the Stanton Elec tary School, showed cartoon ties followed by Johnson show colored pictures of a trip, t from Long Beach up through Columbia River into Canada Minnesota, and to his birth and the return through the B Hills and Zion National park. The Dec. 3 meeting of the D will be a dinner with Mrs. M as hostess and Lewis C. Bratney, "tail twister," as cl man. Lester Miller of La Habra, trict governor, will be the h guest. Parties Honor Visitor Here Mrs. Gertrude Ashton flew Philadelphia last week for a months visit with her daughter Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Samuel L of Hanson Manor, and her gr sons, Wayne and Jerry. Friday night she was entertained at a dinner party by her in-law's parents, Mr. and Joseph Huss and Mrs. Veva G man at 825 N. Sabina. Mrs. Ashton was honoree birthday dinner Saturday n when her daughter was host to 12 guests. This is the second trip Mrs. Ashton has made Southern California. Anyone wishing to donate a gift, please state boy or girl and age on package and leave at the school office. Mrs. Conan W. Gray, president, announced dates for the social dancing classes to be held in Fremont cafeteria. The 8th grade class to start Monday, Nov. 26 and the 7th grade class to start Thursday, Nov. 29. A schedule and bulletin will be sent home with each child. VEGETABLES COOKED IN SALAD OIL 2 cups of vegetables 2 tablespoons salad oil Water Salt and pepper Prepare vegetables for cooking. Cook rapidly until tender in saucepan containing salad oil and small amount of boiling water, season with salt and pepper. If canned vegetables are used, drain and heat with salad oil. Serves 4 to 6. Heat fat in fry pan. Brown the liver, celery and onion. Turn into a greased oerole; add consomme and Place strips of bacon on top. Cook, covered, in a modern oven 350F. ½ hour. Add potatoes, pared and halved, scraped carrots. Cover and continue baking until bacon is crisp browned. Arrange meat and vegetables on a hot platter. Eighty-five Lions, Lady Lions in their children were greeted by two presidents, Mrs. Marie McBratney and Calvin Pebble. The U-shaped banquet table was dressed in Thanksgiving motifs with runners of Carn and pennants. Large bouquets of red and rust carysanthemums decorated the classroom. Mrs. Tha Tabbatt was dining roomess and was assisted in the operations by Mmes. Sue Cole Florence P. Black. Mrs. Orla Brothers, kitchen firman, prepared the turkey which was the Lions' contribution to the dinner. Her assistants were Mmes. Callie Pruett and Carl Rube. Mothers helping with the potluck were Mmes. Myrtis Pebley, Mary Davis, Shirley Eastwood, Rose Allen, Florence Muraka, Equiseline Eriksen, Mayne A. Aldridge, Beatrice Dudley and Ise Martin. Royal Martin, secretary, predeed William W. Dudley who program chairman for the day. Dudley introduced his special guests, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. John McClure of Long Beach. Dudley and Johnson are both members of the Spectrum club, an arts group of painters in Long Chin. Art Education Discussed by Consultant "A Day in the Life of the Pioneers" was presented for members of Katella P-TL by the fifth grade class at a recent meeting. Songs and dances of the period were presented in an appropriate setting. During the business meeting, Mrs. Ross Brownfield presiding, it was voted to present $25 to the Cub and Brownies Scouts to aid them in carrying out activities. Martin Morroco, school principal, discussed the problem of providing more classroom space and said that the matter would be discussed at length during the January meeting. Mrs. Martin Landweer, acting as program chairman, introduced Mrs. Evadna Perry, consultant on art education for the Orange county elementary schools who discussed the value of art in the schools and illustrated her talk with work from the classrooms at Katella. Mrs. Perry showed how individual's growth and responsibility develop through art expression. Presiding at the tea table were Mrs. Hal Balmer and Mrs. Mabel Taft, Mrs. George Osumi was chairman of the day. Miss Donna Jennings is convalescent at home at 7062 E. Orange, having returned from the Anaheim Community hospital Sunday. She had an appendectomy on Friday. Miss Jennings is the third grade teacher at Savanna Elementary school. A needy family of Orange county has been adopted by Anaheim YLI members, and the chairman of the project is Jean Lampher, who will appreciate receiving clothes and canned goods for this family. The six children range in age from four months to 15 years, so members are requested to save their clothes for this family. The Bridge-Tripoli-Canasta party will be held in the home of Rosa Palm, S.
