Murdy, Jr., of Wintersburg, would have a terrific following if he would agree to run. One of the strong men of Orange county, though he has never dabbled in political affairs, Murdy would weld coastal and interior interests as perhaps no other could. He is probably best known for his agricultural and water leadership, but he also is a prominent churchman, and is chairman of the board for Hoag Memorial Hospital, Presbyterian. As chairman of the water problems committee of the Orange county Farm Bureau, he is widely known in that strong organization. His knowledge of farm and water problems would be a vital asset to the new 28th district Congressman. He served as co-chairman of the city-county committee which sponsored formation of the Orange county Municipal Water district, and its annexation to the Metropolitan Water district.
