Following the show and in the Hollywood Bowl, an attraction of the Y-Day pro will be the UCLA-California ball game, annually one of top games in the country. Adult supervision will be provided, according to Tommy Tason, General Secretary of Anaheim YMCA. Fred Heesler Speaks Before Local Kiwanis Anaheim Kiwanis heard the story of sportscasting at its Tuesday noon luncheon held at the Ellks club from Fred Hessler whose job it is to bring you local games via radio and television. He was introduced by Bob Barton of the Home Oil Co. who was responsible for the program. President Art Shipkey told of the new Kiwanis club in Garden Grove which has been sponsored by the Anaheim Kiwanis club. Two new members were given the induction ceremonies by past Lt. Gov. Frank Kellogg. Dr. Fred Rusch introduced new member Dr. William "Bull" Calvy who is connected to the Johnston-Gendel Clinic. ALPHA BETA AWARD BANQUET Alpha Beta Food markets held their annual service award banquet recently in the main ballroom at the Pacific Coast club in Long Beach. Dinner was served to 430 people. The membership in Alpha Beta's Service club now total 204 employees, each with five years of more service in the organization. Many new pins were awarded, including a new 30 year pin to C.W. Edwards, Vice-President and General Manager of the company. Entertainment was presented by the Roguettes, a female singing quintet, and Sandra Bakova, violinist. The bridge was seized yesterday by a Cheshire regiment patrol after Egyptian authorities "refused to keep it open more than 50 minutes every day," the spokesman said. The British also seized an Egyptian government girls' school at Ismailia for use as a school for British servicemen's children. Los Alamitos Dive For Long Runwave SAN DIEGO (UP)—Enlarge of the Los Alamitos Naval station had the Navy's goal today with award of a $1,224 contract to Mac Donald and Sun Valley, Calif., contract. The 11th Naval district saw contract for expansion of the Alamitos center runway with 6000 to 8000 feet was the third similar work on Naval air station throughout the country. Products being handled by Youth’s Car Hits Rear of Milk Truck Sixteen-year-old Charles R. Campbell, 6521 Hanson, Buena Park, smashed his car into the rear end of a parked Wilsey Dairy milk truck on Romneya drive early this morning. Driver of the milk truck, Edward J. Finnegan, 14422 Shoemaker ave., Norwalk was unhurt, but Campbell was taken to Anaheim hospital to be treated for an injured ankle and leg. Officer Earl Vipond investigated the accident. Los Alamitos Due For Long Runway SAN DIEGO UP—Enlargement of the Los Alamitos Naval Air Station had the Navy’s go ahead day with award of a $1,248,000 contract to Mac Donald and Kruze, in Valley, Calif., contractors.
