For Results and Quick World Tensions Is Subject of Public Forum World tensions now prevailing in the Far East, in China, Korea, and in India, will be the topic of Fullerton's Public Forum Thursday evening, Nov. 1, as explained by a recently returned war correspondent and columnist. The speaker, John Morley, spent 16 months in travel around the world, interviewing such men as Chiang Kai-Shek, Singman Rhee of Korea, and Prime Minister Nehru at New Delhi, India. Morley, officially accredited by Supreme Commander U.N. forces in Korea, covered recent ceasefire talks in Korea and the war fronts from Seoul and Pusan. He traveled back and forth from Japan to Korea three times, flying to forward bases behind the front lines and also on bombing missions beyond the lines. His eye-witness account to the Fullerton audience will include other danger zones around the globe, such as the oil crisis in Iran, secrets behind the Iron Curtain in Asia and Europe, tensions in Kashmir, the assassination of Abdullah in Trans-Jordan. In order to get a broad picture of world politics, Morley interviewed other leaders abroad as Winston Churchill, Marshal Tito. 'Gold' Topic Wins Toastmasters Cup The magic of "Gold" won the Toastmasters Trophy Cup at last night's dinner meeting of Anaheim Toastmasters Club. Walter Knott's description of gold mining won the vote for the evening's best speech. "Modern Egg Production" was described by R. A. Hermann, who used the latest model of chicken battery to illustrate his talk. R. J. Allen discussed the commercial and chemical aspects of the petroleum business with his talk. "Fill 'er Up." Guy Tester concluded the speaking portion of the program with the topic, "I Want a Raise." The speakers were introduced by Ray Damerell, who was Toastmaster of the evening. Royal Martin posed the question "Where Are We Going?" as Table Topic Master, leading the group in a discussion of current trends in political and economic thinking. Next week's meeting will be devoted to "Freedom of the Press" and the Club will have as guest speakers representatives from the four local newspapers which serve Anaheim and vicinity, it was announced by Louis Taylor. The meeting will be held at Knott's Berry Place in Buena Park. The invocation of last evening's meeting was delivered by C. J. Stillson, M. Pickel gave the evaluation, and the Times-Press wrote: ANNouncements Classified Kates for Anaheim Gazette Anaheim Gazette Shopper and (minimum 12 words) 1 time 38c 2 times 54c 3 times 72c 4 times 90c 5 times $1.08 Card of Thanks $1.00 In Memorium $1.00 $c word 1st day — 1% thereafter Address, phone number, etc., constitute a word. In order to get a broad picture of world politics, Morley interviewed other leaders abroad as Winston Churchill, Marshal Tito, Franco of Spain. He returned to the Untied States, after his 16-month reporting assignment, only last August. A reserve army colonel, Morley is in an unusually fine position to warn American audiences of the dangers of communism to our free enterprise system. The Fullerton adult program is pleased to present Colonel Morley who is favorably remembered for his high school commencement address in 1947 and as an outstanding advocate of Americanism. Fullerton Public Forum begins at 7:30 every Thursday evening, and is free to the public. Negro Populus Moves from Deep South to Cities WASHINGTON (P)—There was a definite trend of negro population away from the South to industrial areas of the country during the 1940-1950 decade, census figures showed today. The Census Bureau hasn't yet issued its final figures on population by races or on movement of population from state to state but a tabulation of its preliminary figures on white and non-white population for each state shows the trend. The Bureau classifies as non-white the country's negro, Indian and Asiatic population except in certain instances the non-white population is virtually all negro. This is the picture: From 1940 to 1950 the non-white population of the 13 southern states... commonly known as "the south," was virtually at a standstill, showing a net gain of Next week's meeting will be devoted to "Freedom of the Press" and the Club will have as guest speakers representatives from the four local newspapers which serve Anaheim and vicinity, it was announced by Louis Taylor. The meeting will be held at Knott's Berry Place in Buena Park. The invocation of last evening's meeting was delivered by C. J. Stillson, M. Pickel gave the evaluation, and the Timekeeper was Ralph Alexander. The meeting was under the chairmanship of C. O. Garshwiler, president, and was held in the banquet room of Lum's Cafe. 'Talk of the Town' At Dixie Castle Now playing at the Dixie Castle on 101 Highway south of Anaheim is the "Talk of the Town Review," with Jac La Tour as jester of ceremonies. The Dixie plans a special Hallowe'en costume party Wednesday night, with many prizes to be awarded. La Tour caps his performance with a sailor dummy, Junior Jaxon, as a stooge. Junior Jaxon is described as the "magnificent splinter." La Tour was with Frank Sinatra for 19 weeks and with Jerry Colona for 16 weeks on a television show. At the close of this engagement he leaves for the Orient on a USO tour. Among those featured on the current bill at the Dixie are the Hollywood Debutantes, Pat Sullivan, Gerina and Marian Gay; Princess Mari-Juana, "queen of the bumps;" and the Diplomats. SAIGON, Indochino (E)—The French commissioner for the Indochinese state of Cambodia was stabbed to death by a servant yesterday as he lay sleeping in the bedroom of his heavily guarded palace in Pnom Penh. The Bureau classifies as non-white the country's negro, Indian and Asiatic population except in certain instances the non-white population is virtually all negro. This is the picture: From 1940 to 1950 the non-white population of the 13 southern states, commonly known as "the south," was virtually at a standstill, showing a net gain of only 55,037. Seven or the 15 states showed declines. In the South the white population gained about 16 per cent and the negro population gained a half of one per cent. But in the eight Industrial states the white population gained about 14 per cent and the non-White population nearly 55 per cent. The not gain in negro population in the southern states, experts say, does not equit what the natural increase through births would be for the ten years. Thus obviously there was a migration of negroes from the area sometime during the ten years. The census figures show that in 1940 the negro population was approximately 33 per cent of the white population in the 13 southern states. In 1950 it was down to about 30 per cent. On the other hand in the eight industrial states the negro population was about five per cent of the white population in 1940. By 1950 it had increased to about seven per cent.
