Bee Squad Falls Before Huntington Beach, 13-6, for Cellar Position Falling to Huntington Beach Friday on the local high school football field were the Anaheim Bee gridders by the score 13-6 and as a result are in the league cellar with Newport Harbor, both teams having a win-loss record of 0-2. Anaheim lost their first week loop game to Santa Ana by the score 14-13 and in both defeats looked like an entirely different SUNSET LEAGUE Team that tied Redlands and Chaffey and won over Citrus and Covina earlier in the season. They just don't seem to percolate on offense and definitely possess an airtight defense. Short they are a football team making several necessary elements essential for a winning football team. They seem to lack fire, the old school spirit and "college try." After their Covina and Citrus victories they seemed to acquire the attitude that all they had to do was to suit up and the enemy would start to tremble and shake enough for the locals to win. Oilers Like to Play But in the Sunset League they are finding out that there are some other teams in the country that like to play football and don't week when the two squads meet. Fullerton and Santa Ana are still very much in the league race and the title could at the end of the season be held by three and even four teams, not including Anaheim which will have a tough time to get even fourth place in the league race. Anaheim scored late in the third quarter on the "Walker Special" which is a pass from quarterback Gayle Herbel to his end Dwain Duncan who in turn laterals to Bill Walker sprinting the opposite direction. But the Oilers weren't to be denied as they held the Colonists for the remainder of the game to walk off the field with a 13-7 win and hold a share of first place. In the first quarter after an exchange of punts the Oilers drove from the Anaheim 48 to the one from where the Gushers halfback hit left tackle for the tally. Their next scoring drive came in the second quarter and started on their own 48. In 19 plays they scored again on a seven-yard pass play to make the score 13-0. Prize Play of Game Walker came into the game in the third quarter and put the locals back into the game with his prize play, but it just wasn't enough as the rest of the Colonist team was just plain indifferent to the outcome except maybe hard running half Rudy Rivera. He only carried the ball five times, but was a constant thorn in the sides of the Oilers. Big Jim Mitchell vs Baron Leonard Tonight at OC Wrestling champion Michele Leone is due for his new ring experience at the County Athletic club where he meets Jim Mitchel "Black Panther," whose offensive ring asset is his gont heat butt. UnBaron has a head harder than rock of Gibraltar or his bobbed hair offers sufficient ion to soften the "Panther's butts", he's apt to be cool. The scramble is for two three falls, 60 minutes. In the Citrus Belt League Po Kids Day to be Held Sunday at Ram-49'er Game Kids are going to have their "day" at the important Los Angeles Ram-San Francisco 49er football game November 4 at the Coliseum. That Sunday afternoon has been proclaimed "Football For Kids" day, by Mayor Fletcher Bowron. In his official statement, Mayor Bowron expressed hope that grownups make it possible for thousands of youngsters throughout Southern California to witness the Ram-49ers battle. He paid tribute to the Ram policy of admitting free of charge to all home games 5 youngsters, 14 years old or under when accompanied by an adult who buys a special $2.00 ticket. His proclamation added that grownups should make it a point to either take their own youngsters and their friends, neighborhood kids who are unable to attend otherwise, or underprivileged children. Under the Ram, "Free Football for Kids" policy—the only one of its kind in professional sports—any adult who buys a general admission ticket can take the 5 youngsters to the game without additional cost. Or by sending $2.00 to the Boy Scout Headquarters, 1206 Maple Avenue, Los Angeles, a group of youngsters will be organized and sent to the Ram-49er game with a supervisor. Tickets can be purchased at the Ram office on Beverly Boulevard or they can be bought on the day of the game at the Coliseum. Ram Coach Joe Stydahar spoke for the entire team when he said, "We want to see many kids." The Bulldogs surmounted obstacle number one last Saturday night, beating previously undefeated Long Beach, 13-7, and keeping their winning streak intact at six straight. This Friday night comes Compton's behemoth tartars, traditional foes of Pasadena and holders of five victories, one tie, and no defeats this season. Friday night's game was a must for the locals and they came through, although for a while, about 46 minutes worth, the fans were on the edge of their cold and hard seats, not daring to predict a winner in such a close and hard played contest. The Ollers kicked off and Jim Roberts took the ball, but was downed right there on the 36-yard line of Anaheim. Lenny Kolb then handed the ball off to fullback Johnny Steinborn who smashed his way over left tackle and scooted his way 64 yards down the field running over hapless defenders to put the ball on the enemy's four yard line. Steinborn then carried the ball for no gain, but the Colonists then proved they were there to win the game, and not just to pass the time of day waiting for the Fullerton game. By a Kolb pass to half-back Anron Peralta who caught the ball on the two yard line and stepped over into the end zone with one minute and 20 seconds into the game. After an exchange of punts and a costly Colonist fumble which the Ollers recovered the host team took over the lead in the scoring column by tallying on a run around right end of their own team. The drive started on the 20 yard line, the spot the Ollers recovered the fumble. Bob Boswell's conversion was good and the score stood, 7-6, the home team out in front. The Ollers kicked off and the locals took over on the Anaheim 40, after Steinborn had run the kickoff back 15 yards. The locals drove down to Huntington's 43 where the Oller's defense held and forced Anaheim to punt out, with Stenborn doing...
