Religious Classes To Resume Oct. 1
The Released Time Religious Education Interfaith committee announces that the Released Time Religious Education classes for Anaheim city schools—Grades 4-8—will begin the week of Oct. 1, 1951.
Children whose parents sign an enrollment card will be permitted to attend either a Protestant or a Roman Catholic class for one hour each week during the school term. The enrollment cards have been sent or given to every child in the school system. Parents are urged to consider this very seriously.
The Roman Catholic classes are under the supervision of Rev. Maurice Dee, pastor of St. Boniface and Sister Henrietta of the order of Sister's of St. Joseph's, supervisor of Orange County Released - Time Catholic classes. Teachers are drawn from St. Boniface parish.
Protestant classes are sponsored by the Association of Christian Churches of Anaheim. The Rev. H. F. Stief, pastor of Grace Lutheran is chairman of the Christian Education committee. Teachers for this school year will be Mrs. Mary Heinze, Mrs. Betty Helnze, Mrs. Leola Bowen, Mrs. Eleanor Gilbreath. You may have further information regarding these classes by calling Sister Henrietta, Orange 533, or the Rev. H. F. Stief, Anaheim 5020.
Annual Avocado Institute Oct. 20
Date for the annual avocado growers institute has been set for Oct. 20 at La Habra, according to Farm Advisor Harold E. Wahberg. This is the 23rd annual institute conducted for avocado growers in Orange and Los Angeles counties. It is sponsored by the Agricultural Extension Service and the Farm Bureau in both counties.
A special program committed met last week at La Habra to select subjects and speakers for the occasion. The morning session began at 9:30 a.m. at Washington school will feature cultural topics involving tree and orchard management. The afternoon session will take up discussions and reports on the avocado outlook the marketing situation and the price outlook.
The session will close with a panel of growers and specialists who will answer questions from the floor.
A capacity attendance is expected because of the Saturday sessions which appeal to part-time growers as well as commercial growers.
The program committee included Phil Newman, Tustin; We Marquart, Orange; George Kellogg, Yorba Linda; Walter Beck Loren Mead and Cecil Knowlton of La Habra; John Smith and William Montgomery, Whittier; Farm Advisors Kenneth Smoyer, Los Angeles and Wahlberg, Orange county.
