In keeping with the advent of autumn, many Anaheim stores are holding fall fashion showings this week. The shop windows are beautifully bedecked in glowing fall colors and dramatically present the season's fashion highlights.
Local buyers of men's and women's apparel and childrens' ready-to-wear have combed the California and New York markets to assemble a well rounded stock of up-to-the-minute fashions, the kind of clothes that Mr. and Mrs. Anaheim like to wear.
S.Q.R.'s spectacularly lovely windows will be unveiled this evening and the fall fashion showing will be introduced by special-purchase sales tomorrow of wearing apparel and home needs.

the show with coats or garments running a close second. In comparison with the 1951 styles, last year's coat is apt to look outmoded for the full flowing pyramid silhouette has been altered to a more modified version and is now popular in the full or shorter lengths.
In both coats and suits, Penney's has an exclusive on a fabric finish. Called "Protecto" according to the label, it gives a miraculous protection to cloth in a way that reduces cleaning bills to a minimum. If beverages splatter on cloth treated in this way, the spots can be wiped off without a trace of stain or smudge remaining. A quick daub with a damp cloth removes most food stains. This finish also prevents the underarm rings that perspiration sometimes causes.
This finish has not yet been applied to dresses. The news in this department at Penney's are the latest in dark cottons, in dresses with the new surface interest prints, in faille and in rayon crepe with velvet trim.

Mrs. Schumacher sights a definite trend toward more dressy clothes this year with taffeta and velvet coming into prominence. Gone are the man-tailored suits for the accent is now on the ripped-in waist and padding at the hip line. Skirt lengths remain about the same, with the most becoming length left to the discretion of the wearer.
Purple and the shades which tone to bare vary good this year and the new electric-blue which can be worn with so many contrasting colors is becoming very popular.
Hats are small but are much be decked with feathers which in some cases could even be classed as plumes.
These fashion finds are all featured at S.Q.R. along with cute styles for teenagers in jackets, weskits, skirts and slacks in the every popular corduroy, and the latest in date dresses—filmy and billowy as a breeze with touches of velvet, taffeta and full underskirts for sophistication.
Pro-Season Tests
After an intensive series of pre-season tests of consumer preferences as to style, fabric and color, Oscar Solter, manager of Penney's, has announced a peak supply of merchandise that is number one in popularity on the West Coast. These are the things that people are wearing; these are the things that the average American family can afford.
Mr. Solter says that in the women's ready-to-wear department, coats of wool fleece are stealing

This finish has not yet been applied to dresses. The news in this department at Penney's are the latest in dark cottonts, in dresses with the new surface interest prints, in faille and in rayon crepe with velvet trim.
This week also brings to Penney's a men's clothing event which reveals how very little men's clothing prices have advanced in comparison with other cost-of-living items.
Oscar Solter classes sharkskin as the number one suit fabric with gabardine following a close second. Dark flannels are proving popular too, and may be the dark horse among the stlye leaders, for flannel gives lots of satisfaction and is a bit less expensive than the others. He finds also that double breasted-suits still lead the parade.
These trends are borne out by the buyers at Lake's Men's Wear and at Swanberger's, and these buyers add that the sport shirt with the new short collar is outselling standard models two to one.
Switch to Distinction
Ballard's has recently switched from solely a line of sportswear to include many of the more dressy lines of women's wearing apparel. If you have not shopped this store lately, you will be pleased with the full racks of nationally advertised clothing designed for round-the-clock wear. Tenna Paige Fashions are distinct fashion leaders across the nation and Ballard's carries a full line in sizes from nine to 17.
And you will still find fine casual clothes at Ballard's, wool jerseys, corduroys, and an unlimited selection of sweaters, skirts and blouses. We were particularly taken with a smooth fitting skirt of permanent pleated wool jersey that was being modeled by pretty Shelley Smith.
A very smart coat of red fleece caught our eye at Walberg's. Its excellent lines were set off to perfection by trimming of black velvet, a good example of the standard of fashion set by this discriminating shop.
We found the fall simulators also prevents the underarm rings that perspiration sometimes causes.

WED LAST NIGHT—Mrs. Clarence LeRoy Heinrich (nee Darleen Morris) and her husband are on their honeymoon trip today following the double ring ceremony which united them in marriage last night in Capilla de San Aftonio. The couple planned to stop at Lake Tahoe during their tour of Northern California. Both are graduates of Anaheim Union High school.—(Arsene photo)

from Tokyo to Korea Monday for a brief conference with his Eighth Army commander, Gen. James A. Van Fleet. The Army said only that the visit was routine but presumably they discussed the heavy fighting in the east and the ominous red buildup of forces in the west. Ridgway had no comment on his return to Tokyo Monday night.
The bloody Allied gains in the east if sustained could gradually swing the United Nations front from a general east-west line to front.
This would put the Allies within striking distance of a natural defense line running roughly from Wonsan on the east coast southwest to the present Imjin river line in the west.
But there are many more 2,000 to 4,000-foot peaks still lying ahead of such an objective.
Despite Monday's rain and fog, Allied warplanes kept up their pounding of North Korean rail and highway routes.
Medium bombers of the Eighth Bomber Command visually dropped more than 300 quarter-ton bombs on a rail yard near the west coast port of Kyomipo, 20 miles south of the North Korean capital, Pyongyang.

Heinrich-Morris Nuptials Pronounced In Garden Setting at Wedding Chapel
In a garden setting at Capilla de San Antonio, Miss Darleen Morris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ershal Morris, 210 N. Olive st., Anaheim, exchanged wedding vows last night with Clarence LeRoy Heinrich, son of Robert Heinrich of 403 S. Philadelphia st., Anaheim. The double ring ceremony took place at 8 p.m., with Rev. Howard Congdon of Anaheim Presbyterian church officiating.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of Skinner satin and imported chantilly lace. A strand of pearls, gift of the bridegroom, formed the high neckline to a sheer illusion net yoke, which was joined to a band of lace forming the top of the bodice and covering the shoulders. She wore matching lace mitts extending above the elbow. Accordion pleated lace inserts in the satin skirt, en train, gave a fan-like effect to the full skirt. Her over-the-face veil was of fingertip length. Her corsage of lilies of the valley in a cascade bouquet was centered with two white orchids.
The plum-colored aisle-way to the white-decked altar was lined with white tapers and chrysanthemums in bronze and yellow hues. Honolulu chrysanthemums with eroton foliage were carried by the maid of honor, Miss Carol McDermott of Buena Park and the bridesmaids, Mrs. Roy Pina and Mrs. Ed Bielefeld, sisters of the bride, Mrs. Alfred Spire and Miss Sue Lane, all of Anaheim.
The maid of honor wore a pure silk gown of turquoise and the bridesmaids's frocks were plum-colored.
Al Heinrich of Inglewood, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Al Spire and Jack Lane of Anaheim, Jim Gant of Santa Ana and Bill Wieland of San Diego, a brother-in-law of the bridegroom.
The bride carried out the old-new-borrowed-blue tradition with a solid gold bracelet, gown and veil, a lace handkerchief and blue garter. The bracelet had been worn at their weddings by her older sister and highway routes.

The Fifth Air Force said its "operation strangler"—destined to choke off communist rail and road traffic in North Korea—reached a new peak of intensity in the past month.
"Strangler" started last March as the Air Force counterpart of Ridgway's "operation killer," intended to bleed the enemy of manpower, rather than capture real estate.
The Air Force said "strangler" destroyed or damaged 3,500 communist trucks from Aug. 18 to Sept. 1 and forced the reds to turn to their battered rail system.

'Over the Back Fence'
This week Anaheim added one more family to its growing population, a family that just arrived from Hamelm, near Hanover, Germany.
It seems Anaheim would be the natural place for immigrant Germans to want to make their homes as Anaheim was pioneered by German stock, but these charming people had another, very good reason to come to Anaheim. Emil Mittman, owner and manager of the California Hosiery Mills, and a resident of our fair city, is the heretofore unseen brother of Mrs. John Kruger.
One of the quirks of nature took a hand in the fate of Emil and his sister, Hertha. In 1923 Emil Mittman entered the U.S. and became a citizen. After he left, his sister, Hertha, was born. She is now 27 years old, and he saw her last Monday, a week ago, for the first time.
She is now Mrs. John Kruger and has a son, Manfried, who celebrated his third birthday yesterday.
Hertha and John met in school, and were married in 1945, the year the armistice was signed with Germany. Before that time he attended the University of Koenigsberg, school of dentistry. His education was interrupted by the war when he served as a minor officer in the German army. After the war he returned to school, this time at Hamburg University. He was graduated from there in March of last year. Then they began negotiations to enter the United States.
He plans to attend one of our Southern California universities, learn English to supplement the limited knowledge of our language and eventually become a dentist in Anaheim.
Saturday, a week ago, the Mittman family arrived in New York to await the arrival of the Kruger family. Monday the plane landed at La Guardia field, and from there they immediately left for home.
Mr. Mittman would be an excellent person to remind malcontents of the opportunities America still has to offer. When he arrived in America in 1928, he was just another immigrant. The next year he married Mrs. Hattie Mittman (and he remembers their anniversary). In 1936 he became production manager of the Hollyvogue Hosiery Mills, where he remained until 1947.
In 1947 he built the Anaheim Hosiery Mills, followed by Hosiery Mills and Hosiery Mills, all located in McCoy's Norm Tailgel bulk and give you bowel movements less to take over time and the dose increased. Easily on purse. 21 Tabs 25s., 200 Tabs $2.00. On Drug Store, 100 Wheel.

worth of free services from the Children's hospital," Reafsnyder said.
In an effort to aid the hospital financially for free services rendered to Anaheim children, the local Community Chest named the hospital a Red Feather agency. Hospital officials urged residents of this community to support their Community Chest in order that medical care for their sick and crippled children may be continued.
for hauling supplies south to the front.
But the shift to rail traffic which began in heavy volume last week only gave the Allied flyers a bigger opportunity to destroy whole trains.
In this phase of "strangler," the Fifth Air Force reported 16 locomotives destroyed, 16 damaged, 280 rail cars destroyed and more than 600 damaged from Sept. 11 until Monday morning.
In many cases red trains are isolated on short sections of tracks, cut off from the rest of the network, by bombed out bridges or craters across the rails.
Reds ferry freight across the gaps by truck in their effort to supply their frontline forces.

Local Dairymen Win Fair Awards
The coveted gold medal for excellence in milk products was awarded three Anaheim dairymen Saturday at Los Angeles County Fair. This award is one of the most difficult to win, being presented only after the milk has been subjected to a long series of rigorous tests, passing them all with a score of 97 per cent or better.
Those who received the award included Charles Spyksma, 9711 Juanita; Baroldi Dairy Farms, Rt. 1; and Henry DeBle Jr., 5352 Orange ave.
Commenting on the scores, Larry Bentley, veteran milk inspector in charge of the contest, said "This year's samples are the finest specimens of milk that I have been privileged to judge. The large number of medals awarded indicates Los Angeles consumers enjoy a superior supply of pure milk of the finest flavor from dairymen who ship to metropoli-
tan milk plants."
From the 191 entries in the 1951 division, 91 scored high enough to receive the medal. Bentley explained that because all milk is judged before being processed, any foreign flavors are immediately noticeable and the product is scored accordingly.
Awards were made Saturday as part of the observance of Dairy Day at the Fair whose thousands of attractions and entertainments will continue through Sept. 30.

If drilling is done on city-owned property in northern Ananielm the city will receive a two per cent overriding royalty in addition to the one-sixth royalty paid to all lease-holders.
