Fullerton JC Enrollment Up As classes entered their first week at Fullerton junior college, enrollment reached 921 by Wednesday, with the total enrollment expected to reach 1000 by Oct. 1, last day of registration. Registration was considerably heavier during the first three days of instruction than during the same period last year, according to Registrar Robert Rockwell. To date, the total registration has exceeded the number enrolled at the end of last year—803, but has fallen short of the number enrolled last year. "Enrollment is reflecting two factors—the military situation and the wide availability of jobs in industry connected with defense." Rockwell said. "There is no alarming decrease in enrollment, therefore. With several students enrolling each day until Oct. 1, it is likely that we will pass the 1000 mark." MORE ABOUT... Peace Talks (Continued from Page 1) protests." The communists have claimed numerous air and ground violations of the five-mile neutral County Building Health Food Store Opens Tomorrow By JEANNINE PANNIER Remember me? Hope so. I'm back again to keep you up to date on what we're doin' at high school, and believe me, we've been doing it. What with registration, first day excitement, buying student body cards, changing this and that class and just getting back in the swing of things we've been pretty busy. There are more students this year than ever before, and it seems like the school is "bulging its seams." You even have to wait in line to get up the stairs. It is deeply regreted that many of the bewildered freshmen were sold assembly seats and handbooks the latter are given out free in their Orientation classes) by some of the, shall we say, "crafty" upperclassmen on registration day. The first thing on the program Monday morning was a general assembly at 8 o'clock opened by Mr. Demaree, our principal. The new teachers were introduced, and the student body officers were given their pins, incidentally out president is Ira Webber in case you didn't know. The song and cheer leaders also had a part in the assembly. The students then went to each of their classes for half hour periods and school was dismissed at noon. I won't be able to tell you any club news until next week as things haven't had a chance yet to really "get rolling," but I do know that our first dance will be after the Redlands football game September 21, which will be kind of a get acquainted dance and is to be sponsored by the senior class. I'll have more next week, so be looking for me. MORE ABOUT Peace Talks (Continued from Page 1) protests." The communists have claimed numerous air and ground violations of the five-mile neutral zone around Kaesong by the U.N. Allies. The U.N. command has admitted only one of them — the strafing carly last Monday. Peiping radio said last night the armistice negotiations 'could start again immediately' and quick agreement could be reached if the Allies would admit communist accusations of neutrality violations. U.S. EIGHTH ARMY HEADQUARTERS, Korea (P)-Unified Nations Doughboys today wrested a towering peak from bitterly resisting reds north of Yanggu as the bloody "Battle of the Hills" ground on in eastern Korea. On the other end of the peninsula, six Russian-type T-34 tanks and two self-propelled guns were spotted west of Yonchon. They were immediately attacked by U.N. artillery, planes and tanks. In the air war, Allied planes roared through Korean skies on close support missions for the infantry and slashing attacks at red supply lines. MORE ABOUT McCracken (Continued from Page 1) His face betrayed no emotion. After returning to the courtroom, the defense, by stipulation with the prosecution, read into the record the testimony given at the first trial by Mrs. Lillian York, who said her home backed against the Pine motel, and she has a daughter named Fatsy, aged 10. The testimony wae intended to bolster McCracken's testimony that while Patty Hull was in his cabin, he heard a voice outside call "Hey, Patty," as he understood it. This, he said, agitated Patty Hull and was one of the reasons why she tried to climb County Building Permits Lower Building permits or the corporated area of Orange during the past week with only $1550 issued in the heim area. Funds were appropriated last night by the Optimists to provide for a mimeographed safety builten to contain reports, suggestions and remarks from parents, teachers, city authorities and other individuals and organizations who have something to offer regarding the Child Safety Campaign. Principal speaker at the meeting was Fullerton Junior college's football coach, Tex Oliver, who departed from time-honored coaching custom and made no alibis-influence for his team. "They'll give a good account of themselves when they get in the living and begin clicking," he said. Of the current crop of Anaheim boys who have signed up for the JC team, Oliver remarried. They're good boys and I expect lot of them. I have only one tenant—Bill Cook over at Santa Ana JC still wears an occasional anaheim boy over to his school." Oliver tossed verbal bouquets to SAJC Coach Bill Cook and UHS Coach Clare Van Hooreke. "I don't know why you wanted County Building 5 Anaheim Gazette FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 1901 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Fullerton coach to talk to you about football when you have two of the finest men in the business both from Anaheim," he said. "I mean, of course, Bill Cook and Clare Van Hoorebeke." A former West Point student, Oliver had no excuses for the recent cheating episode there. "Those boys weren't living up to the Point's traditions," he explained. "However," he continued, "human nature being what it is. I believe it is a mistake for the school authorities to make it so easy to crib on examinations."
