Why are ye fearful? Have ye not yet faith?—Mark 4:10.
CALIFORNIANA — Dennis Kearney, an Irish drayman, organized the Workingman's Party of California, Sept. 12, 1877, to combat unemployment and the competition afforded California workingmen by Chinese laborers. In the course of a series of open air meetings, Kearney enlisted thousands of members for his party. Because it was radical in its platform it was short-lived.
CAUTION—The other night an elderly woman—Florence Browne—and her husband were run down by a hit-and-run motorist in an Anaheim crosswalk. The 65-year-old woman is dead. Her 72-year-old husband James Browne, was injured. They were trying to cross Center at in a pedestrian zone. They had the right-of-way. The on-coming traffic was supposed to stop—but didn't. Please, when you get behind the wheel of your car, do be careful. These are school days and some of the small parents, Teachers Honored by P-TA

PERSONALITIES—Paul Cook, Anaheim's new elementary school superintendent, has gone to work to make Anaheim proud of its schools... Don Ralston is bringing experience to Thomas Jefferson school. He was principal at the Savannah school. He is the kind of man who gets along well with growing children... Rod Cookus is an Anaheimer who believes spectator sports are all right for those who can't participate in them... Doug Wheeler apparently gave up on the Buena Park Lynx too soon. They surprised him when they won the regional Bud Averrett has done a good job as Wheeler's successor... Incidentally, Lon Bypes, the gentleman who peddles "the pause that refreshes," like to do nothing better than to present trophies. It gives him his "inning" in the spotlight...
CONGRATULATIONS—Clayton Mallory, the Anaheimer, is to be congratulated for the outstanding job he did in skippering the Buena Park Kittens to softball title. Kathleen Blelefeld nearly gave her Kittens a chance to play against the Lynx in the Regionals. They beat everything except Monrovia. Too bad a man of Mallory's caller couldn't be running an Anaheim team.
SHORTOPIX—Joe Mene is back in Illinois visiting his in-laws... Sgt. Jimmy Heffron, a member of Anaheim's own, has hiked to the
