17-Year-Old Girl Nabbed by Police As Shoplifter A 17-year-old Anaheim girl was booked at Juvenile Hall this week end after being apprehended while shoplifting in the Safeway Market in Anaheim by its manager, Joe Richardi. The girl had lifted numerous items from the market and stowed them in a shopping bag when she was caught and it was later found that she had stolen items from the SQR store. MORE ABOUT ... Navy Bomber Crash Kills Crew of Nine SEATTLE (P) — Navy district headquarters announced the crash today of a navy patrol bomber into Puget Sound with nine men aboard. All were believed lost. The crash occurred near Smith Island, about a mile north of Whidbey Island in the northern part of Puget Sound. The 13th Naval District announcement said the plane was making low altitude training runs when it met disaster. The accident was witnessed by members of another navy plane flying nearby. Less than an hour after the crash, the navy reported two bodies had been recovered from the water. They were being flown by helicopter to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. The search for the other bodies was being conducted by both air and sea crash crews. The crashed plane was attached to Fleet Air Wing 4 at the Whidbey Island station. MORE ABOUT ... Opening of Bids On Outfall Sewer Job to be Tonight Opening of bids on the exploration work for the proposed new ocean outfall sewer line is scheduled at 6:30 p.m., this evening at offices of the Joint County Sanitation district in Santa Ana, community center. The executive committed of the districts will open the bids then refer them to engineers for checking. It is said. The report of the engineers may be ready to present to the directors of the districts for action at their regular session Wednesday evening in the courthouse. Bids on the exploration work will be scrutinized not only by resident engineers, but by R. R. Ribal, new chief engineer and general manager for the joint districts, who will be here from Oakland. According to Attorney E. J. Marx, counsel for the districts, the law firm of O'Melveny and Meyers, Los Angeles bond attorneys is inspecting plans for modification for the original sewerage plan, which revision must be approved before the $8,308,000 sewer bond issue can be sold. COST OF LIVING—Milk prices Red Indonesians Carry Peace Dove In Bloody Attack JAKARTA, Indonesia (P) — A band of 150 carrying the communist-sponsored Picasso peace dove and armed with machineguns fought a bloody battle with police and storm troopers today in the port city of Tandjong Priok, 10 miles from here. Eleven persons were reported killed—five of them members of the army and police and six of them reds. At least 30 of the attackers were arrested and at least 15 bystanders were believed to have been injured. The bloody fighting started late last night and police said they were still mopping up in the heavily populated area. Established 1928 Man Arrested After Attempted Assault On Anaheim Woman Samual James Pancoast, 24, 636 N. Maine, Baldwin Park, is being held in jail here following his arrest Saturday night on a charge of attempted criminal assault on an Anaheim woman. Panoast and his companion, a local divorcee, met another couple at Harmony Park ballroom Saturday evening and during the course of the evening Panoast invited the others to go out for a hamburger. Instead of going to a hamburger stand, however, he drove down a dark, lonely road, stopped and made improper advances to his companions. She resisted and she charged Panoast then sent her about the race and torre her clothes in an attempt to remove them. She succeeded in lending him off and later reported the attack to local police. They accompanied her to Harmony Park to look for the man and later found him al. Adams and Manchester blvd. The victim of the attack identified him as the attacker and he was arrested and booked. Arrangement was set tentatively for today. Panoast is on probation in Los Angeles county on a previous conviction of robbery, police report. Rinshed-Mason Host 180 Members Of Chemical Society West Coast division of the Rinshed-Mason plant was host to 180 members of the Southern California section of the American Chemica society Saturday. In addition to a tour of the plant with explanations of the manufacturing processes for making automotive and industrial finishes, the group was shown Rinshed-Mason's color motion picture, "The Protective Dimension." This plant tour was one of several made during the day through a number of manufacturing and processing plants in the Anaheim-Fullerton area as planned for part of the annual ACS industrial field trip. Max L. Dozier Claimed by Death Mr. Max L. Dozier, 49, died unexpectedly yesterday morning at his home, 8612 S. Stanton rd. He was born in Denver, Colo., and has lived in Anaheim for seven years. Surviving him are his wife, Lucille L., and his mother, Mrs. Florence Barkoff of Denver. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, Harmony Lodge No. 61 of Denver. Memorial services will be conducted from the chapel at Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. A. J. Casebeer will officiate. Burial will be at Loma Vista cemetery with the Masonic Tourists Get Call From Pants Burglar Mr. and Mrs. William Leo Carbrey, tourists from Monroe, La., were extended a roving welcome Friday night by one of Orange county's more notorious figures—the "pants burglar." However, it failed to raise them before the nocturnal marauder made off with $94 out of Mr. Carbrey's wallet. It may be assumed that the mysterious "pants burglar" was responsible since the technique used was much the same. He entered Apt. 9 of the Crown Motel, where the Carbreys were sleeping, and relieved the wallet of the cash and then placed it back on the dresser before leaving.
