Orange County GI Reaches U.S. Zone Of Germany STUTTGART, Germany — An Orange county soldier, Corporal Johnny Sowers, 20 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Sowers, 945 Pine st., Santa Ana, is one of the first soldiers of the Fourth (Ivy) Infantry Division to reach the U. S. Zone of Germany. He is one of 136 Californians in the approximately 3500 officers and men of advance elements in the pioneering shipment of the command. Corporal Sowers who attended the Santa Ana Junior College for a short time before his service call interrupted his studies, enlisted for the Army in October, 1948, and came to Germany for assignment to the United States Constabulary.
