Mrs. John Wilson Is President of Assistance League for Coming Year
Mrs. John Wilson accepted the president's gavel from Mrs. Arthur Elliott yesterday afternoon when she assumed leadership of Anaheim Assistance league for the coming year.
At a delightful buffet luncheon in the home of Mrs. Cortez Hoskins, members of the executive board entertained the membership.
An arrangement of pink carnations and gladiolus centered the table and was flanked at each end with pink tapers in graceful candelabras.
Edna Kramer, on behalf of the membership, presented Mrs. Elliott with a lovely silver serving tray in appreciation of the work she has done during the past year. In turn, Mrs. Elliott thanked the officers, members and committee chairmen for their splendid cooperation.
New officers are: first vice-president and membership chairman, Mrs. J. G. Hilleary; second vice-president and ways and means chairman, Mrs. Joe Walter; third vice president and projects, Mrs. William LeVecke; recording secretary, Mrs. V. W. Borden; corresponding secretary, Mrs. Ben Kaulbars; treasurer, Mrs. Glenn Peck, and parliamentarian, Mrs. H. B. Pearson.

Graduates Feted At Gautschy Home
After the graduation exercises Thursday evening, the 8th graders from Savanna school were entertained in the rumpus room of the John Gautschy home at 9735 S. Western ave., with the room mothers as hostesses: Mmes. Ralph Klemm, Lewis Wolter, Carl Jameson and J. Gautschy.
The following girls wore their organdy pastel graduation frocks with roses, their school flower: Charlene Alvey, Marilyn Baumann, Jane Ellen Gautschy, Betty Koedel, Diane Stearns and Sally Viramontes. Boys present in sport suits were: Douglas Crawford, Jackson Lee Finch, Carl Jameson, Jr., Trini Valdez, Raymond Van de Warker and John Williams, Jr.
Special guests were Supt. and Mrs. Wayne L. Butterbaugh and vice-principal and Mrs. Donald Ralston. After games and dancing, punch, ice cream and cake were served.
Sunshine-Shower Club Meets
Mrs. Sada Larson of $562 Howard st., Los Alamitos was hostess to the Sunshine and Shower club Thursday afternoon. In addition to 10 regular members from Stanton, Mrs. William Dubbs was a guest.
Other guests were Mrs. O. L. Reynolds of Los Alamitos and Mrs. Betty Carr and her two small sons, Billy and Tommy from Norman County.

Calvary Baptist Bible School Opens Monday
Plans are now complete for the Calvary Baptist church vacation Bible school to be held from June 18 to June 29.
All boys and girls are invited to attend. Sessions, to be held in the church at Broadway and Citron, will be from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m.
Many interesting activities have been planned, including handicraft, games, Bible study, worship, music and singing. The school will close June 29 with an afternoon picnic and an evening program to which parents and friends are invited.
Transportation will be furnished any child who needs it. Those interested should call Mr. Howard at 2-8758.
Missionary Speaks To WSCS Meeting
In one of the most entertaining programs of the year, members of WSCS of White Temple Methodist church were privileged to hear Miss Mary Campbell, 85-year-old missionary recently returned

Mrs. Elliott presented the club with a check for philanthropies from Hollywood Turf club. Announcement was made that the ways and means committee will meet June 19 to outline plans for the coming year. Plans were made also for the fall benefit to be held in September at the Balboa Bay club.
Songs of 1951 For Richards-Martin Pageant
Time rolls around again for the annual Richard-Martins Dance Pageant, this time called "Songs of 1951," to be presented at the AUHS auditorium Thursday, June 28, at 8 p.m.
Profits derived from the admission will go to the Anaheim P-TA Council for welfare work. Children will be admitted for 50 cents and adults for 75 cents.
Costumes this year will be more elaborate than ever and will be made by the mothers of the cast. They will be designed by Lenoir Martin.
Two-hundred will appear in the cast with eight production numbers. All nations will be represented in the dances. Anaheim Elks band will present a concert before the pageant.
Club Meets
Mrs. Sada Larson of 2562 Howard st., Los Alamitos was hostess to the Sunshine and Shower club Thursday afternoon. In addition to 10 regular members from Stanton, Mrs. William Dubbs was a guest.
Other guests were Mrs. O. L. Reynolds of Los Alamitos and Mrs. Betty Carr and her two small sons, Billy and Tommy from Vermont. Mrs. Carr is the daughter and house guest of Mrs. Rose Thompson of 6691 Western ave., Buena Park.
The hostess served assorted sandwiches, salad, pie, tea and coffee. The next meeting will be July 12, at the home of Mrs. Charles Freeborn, 8202 Starr st.
VFW Bed Projects End Successfully
Commander A. J. Nelson of Anaheim Post No. 3173 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars announced today the completion of the Post's Hospital Bed Community Service Project.
This was made possible by the many friends of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in the City of Anaheim and Orange county rural areas through their subscriptions for magazines with the Crowell-Colliers Publishing company.
The commissions recieved from the recently conducted selling campaign were used for the purchase and maintenance of a hospital bed with side rails and mattress which are now available to Orange county residents free of charge.

Missionary Speaks To WSCS Meeting
In one of the most entertaining programs of the year, members of WSCS of White Temple Methodist church were privileged to hear Miss Mary Campbell, 85-year-old missionary recently returned from India.
"Women of India" was the subject taken by the speaker in discussing outstanding women of that country who have influenced her life and the lives of other women in India.
She gave a brief story of her life, beginning with her first trip to India in 1884, and the founding of the first WCTU there. She added that she hopes to go to Jerusalem as soon as possible.
Phyllis Herman was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Joe Burke. She sang "Have Mercy Upon Me, Oh God." Group singing was led by Mrs. H. J. Fackiner with Mrs. Ralph Focht as accompanist.
The guest speaker was introduced by Mrs. Elmer Hamilton.
An 11 a.m. prayer service in Wesley Hall opened the meeting and was followed by a delicious luncheon served by Merry Martha circle.
Birthday Party And Farewell for Betty Saunders
Two important events were celebrated last night when Mrs Myrtia Saunders entertained her daughter, Betty, on her 21st birthday. The second occasion was for the departure of the honoree's fiance, Robert Pecor, last night for Lackland, Texas, where he will serve with the Air Corps.
Guests enjoyed dinner at Lum's cafe with cake and coffee served later at the home of Mrs. Emma Stankey on E. Broadway.

Vacation Bible School at Zion Lutheran Church

Announce Teachers Summer Course
A series of short intense summer courses in fashion, design subjects which will be coordinated with trips through many of San Francisco's leading apparel firms was announced today by John F. O'Brien, director of the Academy of Fashion design.
"Due to the increasing importance of the apparel industry in California it is necessary that all teachers in domestic science or art departments become acquainted with the latest trends and methods of the industry," O'Brien said. He added that this year's program at the academy would include trips through Apparel City and discussions with designers and production men.
"Progress in any industry demands a thorough exchange of ideas and problems between teachers, training institutions and the industry itself." O'Brien reported. The aim of the summer course schedule for teachers is to bring the latest developments of the industry to the students.
Courses will be offered in sketching, pattern drafting, speed dressmaking, grading, tailoring, textile design and printing. School teachers or other interested persons may obtain detailed information by writing to the School Information Bureau—1290 Sutter st., San Francisco, Calif.

Calvary Baptist Church Sermon Topic Revealed
"What is Fellowship with God and my Brothers?" is the morning message of Pastor Bob Kevorkian at the Calvary Baptist church, Broadway at Citron, this Sunday at 11 a.m.
Many individuals have an erroneous conception regarding a relationship with God, and that which constitutes a fellowship with our fellow man.
The evening service will begin at the new time of 7 p.m. Pastor Bob will continue his series on the Ten Commandments, preaching on "A Good Conscience is an Invention of the Devil." Many people are actually committing murder unconsciously as far as God is concerned. Perhaps you are a murderer.
The young people will meet at the new time of 8 p.m. All junior high through college youth are invited to this time of fellowship.
A nursery and junior church are maintained during the morning service for the smaller children. All visitors are invited to join our worship.
PERILS OF MIDDLE AGES
"The Perils of Middle Age" will be the subject of Rev. Frank Butterworth's Father's Day service at 11 a.m., Sunday morning, at the White Temple church.
There will be no evening services until July.

These pictures will be supplemented by colorful slides and film strips. Transportation will be provided for those children who need it, if the church office has been advised before hand.
A cordial welcome is extended to the children of all ages in the Anaheim larger area to attend the Vacation Bible school.
Merry Martha circle will have a pot luck supper at the home of Aletha Macy, 839 N. Citron st., Monday evening at 6:30. Members are requested to bring their own serving of hamburger and a covered dish. Dessert, rolls and coffee will be furnished.

Bethel Baptists Set Two Vacation Bible Schools
Rev. Berthold Jacksteit of Bethel Baptist church announces that the church will be conducting two vacation Bible schools this summer in Anaheim, beginning on July 9, through the 20.
The school will be held in Bethel Baptist church at the corner of Lemon and Broadway. This school will meet each morning, five days a week from 9-12; and is open to any boy or girl from the age of five through the junior high.
Freeway Park will have a school at the Sunday School building in the Park, beginning Aug. 6 and continuing through the 17. All children four years of age and up are invited to attend.
The pastor, Rev. Jacksteit will be preaching at both services Sunday. In the worship service at 10:45 a.m., Rev. Jacksteit sermon subject will be "The Worship of God," and in the evening he will be speaking on "The Burden That Rolled Away."

Dates for Two Union Bible Schools Set
Union Vacation Bible schools, co-operative ventures of seven Anaheim Protestant churches, will get under way at two locations on June 26.
These union schools will be held at the White Temple Methodist church, in which the Wesley Methodist church and the St. Michael's Episcopal church are co-operating, and at the Presbyterian and Christian churches in which the following churches are uniting: Christian, Evangelical-United Brethren, Free Methodist, Nazarene and the Presbyterian church.
Classes and activities will be offered in these schools for children entering the first grade next year on through the junior high school ages. Mrs. Eleanor Gilbreth will be the superintendent of the school held in White Temple Methodist church and Rev. Howard S. Congdon will be superintendent of the other school assisted by Mrs. Al J. Casebeer as supervisor of the upper division and Mrs. Elmer Peters as supervisor of the lower division.
These schools are open to all children who desire to attend, whether or not they are members of the various church schools participating in the program. In fact every child in the community is invited to attend. The union schools will be held from June 26 through July 13, four days each
Episcopal Church Summer Services Getting Under Way
This Sunday, June 17, St. Michael's Episcopal church summer program of services will begin.
Following the 8 a.m. Communion, the family worship at 9:30 a.m. will include brief morning prayer, a colored slide talk on the birth of Jesus and a quiz period contest between the classes with questions adapted for all ages.
This will be the first in a series of Sunday morning pictorial talks on The Life of Our Lord, using the general theme, "We Would See Jesus."
At 11 a.m. the regular morning prayer service will include a solo by Mrs. Margaret Besler, "O Master Let Me Walk with Thee," by Oley Speaks. The Rector of St. Michael's will begin a series of talks on the Epistle of St. Paul to the Ephesians under the general theme, "Adventuring with God in Building of His Kingdom." The topic for June 17 will be "Our Place in God's Plan for the Universe."
