ENEMY MINE LAYERS BLASTED—A napalm bomb from Marine Corsair fighter planes based on the light aircraft carrier USS Bataan bursts with fiery destruction over Red minelayers at an undisclosed North Korean port. This indicates the low level at which carrier based planes are flown to knock out enemy supplies and installations.—(U.S. Navy photo via navy radio and Associated Press Wirephoto)

Barbara Jean Bennett, 13, of Necedah, Wis., was injured slightly today at 4:20 a.m., when a car driven by Harley Edgar Bennett, 21, USS Salisbury Sound, now at San Francisco, collided with a truck driven by Arlo Ernest Sudweck of Long Beach at Los Angeles and Center sts.
Bennett told police officers he had failed to notice the automatic signal light until too late and couldn't avoid hitting Sudweck's truck. Miss Bennett was taken to a private physician in Puente for treatment.

division in spite of the fact that two of the proposed lots don't meet RO zone requirements.
During discussion of the Maas subdivision by the council, Councilman Oscar Heyling warned of the danger of breaking down the RO zone section of the new ordinance by setting an injurious precedent. The planning commission's recommendation on the Medaris map will go to the council for further action.
A recommendation to annex 217 acres of land northeast of Anaheim to the city was referred to the council. A petition for the annexation was presented last week to the council by Patrick Boden of Santa Ana, a landowner in the proposed annexation. The area is MacArthur

tens of thousands of people. He will receive a formal welcome from Gov. Earl Warren and Mayor Elmer Robinson.
The general who was fired because he openly challenged his government's policy in Asia is due to arrive about 8 p.m. PST (11:00 p.m. EST) from Hawaii in his plane, Bataan.
City officials had planned to give MacArthur a rousing greeting at the airport and a full-dress parade into the city to touch off a burst of welcoming applause across the nation.
Instead, he will receive the Army's salute to a returning five-star hero—the booming of 17 guns, the brassy music of an Army band, and the traditional honor guard.
MacArthur and his party, including his wife and 13-year-old son, Arthur, will be brought quickly into the city to the St. Francis hotel to spend a quiet evening. The general turned thumbs down on any talks or press conferences.
But Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. (12:45 p.m., EST) MacArthur will come out of his retreat to join in the great party. He will be driven through the streets to the city's Civic Center for the public ceremony.
The governor and mayor will deliver welcoming talks and then MacArthur will make his reply. But he has let it be known his remarks will be brief and that KOREAN WAR

Yonchon, on the road leading northwest to Chorwon, was abandoned by the reds. The Allies hold high ground on all sides of Yonchon, but had not entered the town itself.
An Allied tank-infantry force smashed into a red pocket of resistance on the main road to Kumhwa, a Chinese bastion on the central front. Fifty of the 250 reds were killed by tank and rifle fire.
Kumhwa is east northeast of Chorwon and northwest of Hwachon. It is a key point in the buildup area.
The exact location of the fight was not reported.
Activity on the east and west coasts was limited to patrol actions.
Dive-bombing U.S. F-80 Shooting Star jets struck communist rail facilities Tuesday for the third straight day. Pilots reported five locomotives and 37 rail cars destroyed.
The reds lighted forest fires and smudge pots in an effort to hide their ground movements from the prying eyes of Allied pilots. They used the same trick last November, just before they opened their drive down the heart of the peninsula.

A recommendation to annex 217 acres of land northeast of Anaheim to the city was referred to the council. A petition for the annexation was presented last week to the council by Patrick Boden of Santa Ana, a land-owner in the proposed annexation. The area is bounded roughly by East, Acacia, La Palma and Burton sts.
Repeal of Ordance 441, dated 1023, which allows oil drilling within certain specified areas in Anaheim city limits, was recommended by the planning commission.
First hearing was held on a petition by Mary Sue Brown to change zoning from P-1 to C-2 in the area bounded by Lemon, Clementine, Elm and Broadway. No opposition to the petition was voiced so the second hearing of the case will be held at the next regular meeting. May 28.
A recommendation that the city purchase approximately a third of the city block on the east side of Clementine st. and between Chestnut and Oak sts. was sent to city council with the added recommendation that the zoning be changed from C-2 to P-1.

Detective Lieutenant Pete Kline and Deputy Sheriff Roy Bruce, with Fullerton Police Officer Herbert S. Curtis, went to the Aparicio home. Aparicio came out of of the rear door, carrying a three-foot steel poker with sharpened point and bent handle.
He was placed under arrest. Under questioning, he said that Acosta had not harmed him, and that he "didn't like" Acosta. At one point he told them it was none of their business why he had killed Acosta. Again, he said, "I just killed him. That's all."
The coroner's office announced an inquest will be held.
