AMERICANA—Admiral Robert Perry discovered the North Pole April 6, 1909.
PREDICTION—Someone will be killed or crippled on Orange county highways this week-end. It might be you. When you drive, drive carefully. Twenty-three persons who might be alive today are dead—needless victims of traffic. Death lurks on the highways and biways. Every intersection is a death trap.
JANUARY 7, 1951—Mrs. Grace Kirkpatrick, 57, was killed in an auto crash at Orangethorpe and Gilbert. Four others, including Edith Stillians, 65, were injured.
JANUARY 8, 1951—John Trejo, 28, of Rivera died of injuries sustained in an accident at Orangethorpe and Hanson the previous day.
JANUARY 10, 1951—Mrs. Opal Simon, 48, was instantly killed in a hit-and-run accident in Santa Ana, Mrs. Ruth Frye, 58, was seriously injured and Clara Brown, 71, received minor injuries in the same accident.
JANUARY 15, 1951—Mrs. Verle Ellis, 72, was killed in Fullerton while attempting to cross East Commonwealth avenue.
In the spotlight this week is none other than the "Spotlight Musical Review" to be given by the music department tonight at 8 in the AUHS auditorium. Appropriate for this time of year, the capella choir will be featured in "The Brooklyn Baseball Cantata," followed by the band, orchestra and all glee clubs presenting different types of music including jazz and boogie-woogie.
Dr. Merle V. Taber, noted psychologist, gave the first of her series of talks to Mr. Rinhart's senior problems classes last Monday on "Everyday Family Perplexities." The students will have a chance for private counseling on April 10, by the doctor. Dr. Taber also speaks on Monday nights in the study hall.
For the nominal fee of 25 cents the Tri-Hi-Y girls enjoyed a very hilarious show put on by their Y leaders Tuesday night, March 27, in the basement of the White Temple church. Nan Moore, secretary, stole the show with her violin selections and her "comical costumes."
AUHS Connies enjoyed a very special Girl's League assembly last Wednesday. What made it so special? Well, clothes are one subject that are pretty close to every high school girl's heart, and we had Louise Salinger, a well known fashion authority, appearing in person and talking to us on design and fashions. Mrs. Salim has her own fashion schools that has studied extensively in Pa.
A Grand March will start the fourth annual Military Homecoming night in the study hall. Everyone present will enter in Grand March and pass under traditional Ivy and rose arbor. Dance is formal and will start al Last in my column of news the week, but by no means least, must be mentioned that three Anaheim's graduates will appear in the Occidental Glee ensemble scheduled for next Monday. They are Donna Thomas, former AU student body president who will accompany them on the play Dudley Frank and Dan Demarec.

MILLBRAE (UP)—Peter Loftus, editor and publisher of the Weekly Millbrae Sun, was killed last night when his necktie caught in a press. He was strangled.
His wife, Anne, said he was working alone.
Loftus, a native of Ireland apiece of Columbia university founded the Sun in 1935.
One of the earliest electric discoveries was the fact that searing wax when rubbed on cat fur will become electrified.

FEBRUARY 2, 1951—Major Jennie Boone, 67, of the Salvation Army, was killed instantly when she was hit by a car while crossing Manchester blvd.
FEBRUARY 18, 1951—A pedestrian, Albert Morrison, 68, was killed instantly when he walked in front of a car in Costa Mesa.
FEBRUARY 21, 1951—Little Sammy Juarez, 4, died of head injuries sustained when he fell from a moving car driven by his father.
FEBRUARY 23, 1951—Nick Demarkls, 60, died from injuries sustained when he was hit by a car as he was walking along 101 Highway in Huntington Beach.
FEBRUARY 25, 1951—Ross Rittenhouse, 56, Santa Cruz lodge leader, was killed when he attempted to cross the highway in San Clemente.
MARCH 7, 1951—Paul Lane Francis, Sr., 27, was killed when his motorcycle hit a power pole near the Paulo Theatre on Newport blvd., south of Santa Ana.
MARCH 8, 1951—Cpl. Dale Fairbrother, 24, of the Marine Corps, was killed north of Fullerton when the car in which he was riding hit a mail box, deflected and clipped a power pole. Two companions were injured.
MARCH 13, 1951—Laurence Dalley, 16, apparently fell asleep at the wheel. His car ran off the road and hit a tree south of Irvine. He was killed, his companion Richard Drake, 17, was injured.

MARCH 17, 1951—Lloyd Buell, 61, was killed when a car driven by his son ran into a truck on Orangethorpe. At Laguna Lois Hillier, 54, was killed when her car ran off an embankment.
MARCH 20, 1951—Ramon Lopez, 59, a transient, was killed when hit by a dump truck at Atwood.
MARCH 24, 1951—Clyde Elliott, 50-year-old Costa Mesa pedestrian, was killed trying to cross Newport blvd.
APRIL 2, 1951—a three car crash cost the lives of Jack Kirtley, 55, his wife, Evelyn, and a 25-year-old Marine, Frank Johnson. Charles Cunliff, 21, and Darrel Mahood, 23, Marines, were "critically" injured in the same accident.
