Chestnut st. The just-completed move was undertaken in order to find larger quarters for the growing business and to provide off-street parking for customers, according to Ward Ashbaugh, manager. The store was formerly at 211 S. Los Angeles st. Personnel of the store has not been changed. In addition to Ashbaugh, Ernest Caton, outside salesman; Bill Boice, machine shop manager and Jack Sexton, counter salesman, will continue in the store. Hockaday and Phillips, Inc., is the descendant of Hockaday, Harlow and Phillips, a partnership formed in March, 1920, with one store in Santa Ana. Between 1920 and 1929, when the Anaheim branch was established, stores were opened in Fullerton, Oceanside, Whittier and Orange. Since then, the Oceanside and Whittier stores have been sold and the corporation is now solely an Orange county enterprise. In 1934, Harlow sold out his interest in the partnership and in 1946 Hockaday lost his life in an auto accident, leaving L. Earle Phillips the only living partner. Subsequently the firm was incorporated, but retained the name of Hockaday. Since the Anaheim store was founded in 1929, new branches have been opened in Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa. In addition to handling auto parts and equipment, the Hockaday and Phillips stores sell machine shop supplies and equipment and do machine work. In later years industrial plant supplies and industrial machine shop service has been added to the company's services. Formal opening of the store tomorrow will start at 2 p.m., and will continue until 9 p.m. Refreshments will be served and more than 80 door prizes will be awarded. The public is invited to attend.
