Complaints several weeks ago from Buena Park property owners that the state road work had created a blockade of natural storm water draining was brought to the county supervisors and Supervisor Ralph McFadden of Placentia, in whose district Buena Park is located, took the letter before the state authorities. Orange county Road Commissioner Harold Springer took the position that since the county was not responsible for the situation his staff should not conduct the survey. State highway officials, while consenting to carry on a study of the Buena Park area, have not accepted responsibility for flooding, but have indicated they were ready to take corrective measures if it appears that the flooding is caused by the new highway. Pep Decision May Be Costly MIAMI BEACH (UP)—Former featherweight champion Willie Pep's unanimous decision over Pat Jacobucci of Cincinnati last night may be a costly one. Lou Viscusi, Pep's manager, disclosed after the fight at Miami Beach auditorium Pep hurt his left shoulder in the first round and the injury may delay a return match with Shindy Suddler in New York in June. Pep weighed 127 pounds, one more than Jacobucci. It is estimated that most human beings can distinguish about 80 colors. Nearly $50 billion are invested in E bonds. The first of these bonds will mature May 4. As an inducement to get owners to hold on to their E bonds, the government will pay interest after they mature—up to a maximum of 10 additional years. Owners will be allowed to defer reporting the interest for income taxes until they actually get it by cashling the bonds. The law specifically provides and Secretary of the Treasury Shyder emphasized this as the bill was signed—that any E bond more than 60 days old may be cashed at any time the owner desires. Accumulated interest will be paid to that point. Besides the option of cashing or retaining matured bonds, the law also allows the owner to exchange his E bonds for series G bonds on which interest is paid by check each six months. This may appeal to retired persons or others who want to spend the interest as it accumulates. AMERICAN LIVES ALONE AS BUDDHIST NUN SINGAPORE (UP)—An American Buddhist nun, Reverend Sister Dhammadina, who was born in St. Louis, is now living alone and in silence in a Chinese temple in a small village here. Her head is shaved, and she appears to be in her seventies. She was introduced to Buddhism in Shanghai, and became a man in Ceylon 20 years ago. During World War II she taught Buddhism in California.
