EVE THE NATION SHE IS 8 Anaheim Gazette MONDAY, MARCH 26, 1951 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Police Arrest Two Drunken Drivers Two persons were arrested for driving while drunk in Anaheim over the Easter week-end. Joe Diaz Robles, Santa Ana, was booked for drunk and driving after he was involved in a collision at Anaheim-Olive rd., and Placentia ave., at 1 a.m., Saturday. The other driver was Clarence Herman Kranke, also of Santa Ana. Property damage only resulted. Robles was released on $250 ball, to appear for hearing April 21 at 9 a.m. At 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Wayne Bernard Frey of Long Beach was booked for drunk and driving and held in city jail. Feb. Living Cost Up 1.5 Per Cent LOC ANGELES (UP)—The cost of living rose by 1.5 per cent in Southern California last month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Rents led the parade of higher prices, with an increase of 6.1 per cent. Fruits and vegetables were up 4.8 per cent, clothing 2.9 per cent, the report said. Food prices as a whole averaged an increase of .3 per cent for February, compared with a national rise of 1.8 per cent. The only items holding the line were fuel, electricity and refrigeration. House furnishings were .9 per cent higher; miscellaneous goods were up by 8 per cent to average. Auto Accident Delivers Thief To Local Police Paul V. Banales of Pomona booked for petty theft yesterday following a report of burglary his ex-wife, Mrs. Maudie Baxter 322 Juliana st., Anaheim later accident in which he involved. At 7:30 a.m., yesterday, Banales reported to police her home had been burglarized the tune of a gold bracelet, letters and a ten-dollar bill said she suspected her ext hand. At 10:15 p.m., yesterday, Banales investigated an accident at N. East st., in which a car collided with a light pole, killing it over onto a private yard that address and causing damage. Banales and two companions Eurgene R. Peralta, La Habra Raymond Orosco, Santa Ana, in the car. Peralta and C. were not held, but Banales questioned and searched in connection with the theft. The blet and letters were found on and he was booked for theft. This morning he was given hearing and was sentenced to days in jail or a $200 fine.
