(Related by The Bull Syndicate, Inc.) 3-20-51 Anaheim Gazette TUESDAY, MARCH 30, 1951 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Planners (Continued from page 1) was re-approved without change by the commission and sent back to the city council which had previously denied the application. Chairman Joe Thompson of the commission said the council had evidently not understood the thinking of the commission on the variance. He explained that in the commission's recommendation it had been explained that the carport's supporting pillars were to be placed one foot inside the property line and provision was to be made for keeping rain water from dripping on the line or on the adjoining property. Mrs. Gordon Whitnall, representing her husband as commission consultant, explained that for purposes of carport construction, the side-yard of a house begins 20 feet back from the front property line, regardless of the location of the front elevation of the house. Jess Medaris, local realtor, and a representative of Kemmerer Engineering company, Anaheim, presented a tentative subdivision map to the commission for preliminary approval. The proposed subdivision is located northwest of North and West sts. in the recently-established R-O zone which requires 9000 square foot lots. Medaris' proposal would provide 33 lots of 7000 square feet each. Commission Chairman Thompson wasn't impressed with Medaris' plea that the R-O area isn't suitable for restricted development when Medaris explained that restricted areas should be held in all directions around Anna Thompson explained that the zone had been established extensive conversations withers in the area and because certain advantages possessed the district. The whole question was for further discussion. Proposed changes to the vision ordinance were submitted by Mrs. Whitnall. They are elicited on the subdivision ordinance worked out for the City of Anaheim. THE OLD COOT WON'T LUM OFF THE EXPENSE OF REMOVING THAT PRELUCT U-BOAT ONTO THIS SON-IN-LAW! The California Director of Agriculture has authorized the Bureau of Milk Control to hold a hearing at the council chambers of the Santa Ana city hall to consider bills by milk distributors who propose a one half cent per quart milk price hike in Orange county. In the telegram, L. A. Warren, president of Safeway stores, states that repeat that this proposed price rise is unwarranted. As a matter of fact, there can and should be a reduction from present levels of wholesale milk prices to grocery stores and of grocery store retail prices to consumers." When Medaris explained that the restricted areas should be located all directions around Anheim, Thompson explained that the R-O one had been established after extensive conversations with owners in the area and because of certain advantages possessed by the district. The whole question was tabled for further discussion. Proposed changes to the subdivision ordinance were submitted Mrs. Whitnall.
