Anaheim Gazette MONDAY, MARCH 19, 1851 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Gauer Out (Continued from Page 1) Not considering a new contract for him. He did not protest the action other than to suggest that the school board investigate his relations with the teaching staff, his record as a school administrator, and to sample public opinion on the proposal. Last Friday, Superintendent Gauer presented to the board a "letter of application" seeking a four-year contract as superintendent. He outlined in the letter his experience in the school system and asked for consideration of his record as a school administrator. Previously, Gauer had asked for a shorter contract, but it was not forthcoming. Upon receiving Superintendent Gauer's letter, the board went into executive session. At its conclusion it was announced that Gauer's contract would not be renewed. On Saturday the board issued a statement saying: "For several months the matter of the renewal of Supt. M. A. Gauer's contract has been of prime consideration by the Anaheim School Board. On Friday, March 14, 1851, Supt. Gauer presented the Board with a request for a four year contract which the board acknowledged and entered as a part of the minutes at a board meeting of the same date. "The acceptance of the four year program by the board would carry Mr. Gauer past the 60 year retirement age by approximately 16." Feed, Seed Co. Is Scott Branch The appointment of the Anaheim Feed & Seed Co., 242 W. Center, as a dealer has been announced by O. M. Scott & Sons company, seedsmen since 1878. Tommy Watts is proprietor of the local firm. The Anaheim Feed & Seed store will carry the complete line of Scotts Lawn Care products, including quality lawn seed, fertilizer, weed exterminators and precision-built lawn spreaders in four sizes. All of the company's products are "dry-applied," permitting application with a two-wheeled spreader or by hand, thus eliminating the use of sprays and other laborious methods. A feature of the company is SCUTL, a powder which controls crabgrass without harm to desirable lawn grasses. Introduced in 1950, SCUTL completely revolutionized previous methods combatting this worst of law pests. This year Scott is introducing another dry herbicide, 4-X which destroys plantain, dandelions and other broadleaved weeds without harm to desirable lawn grasses. board sufficiently to cause it arrive at its decision not to employ Mr. Gauer as Supt. This decision does not in any manner affect Mr. Gauer's possibility of retirement at age 60, or after. Under the existing code the same basic retirement principles apply.
