For Results and Quick 7 Anaheim Gazette WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16, 1951 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA. Anaheim Gazette by JOHN S. NEUBAUER Whether we know it or not our lives are establishing a pattern by which we will be judged. It's all on the record and indelible. So shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come.—Gen 30:33. PRIVATE LIVES—George and Fong Lum are doing their part in making Anaheim a place on the epicure's map. Speaking of palatable eating, reminds one of Gilmore's cafe. Why, Howard Gilmore's place isn't big enough to hold all of its clientel, but customers don't mind waiting to be served those delectable, delicious dishes. Maynard Glenn is another Anaheimer who provides an uptown gourmets' emporium with that friendly hometown atmosphere. And, then there's Mrs. Dorothy Parker whose Dorothy Wade cafe provides the delights of "mother's home cooking." Albert Trabert is another Anaheim restraunteur who knows how to tickle the most discriminating palate. Roof Prowlers Seen Twice Here Prowlers were reported on the roofs of two Anaheim establishments early this morning. At 1:44 a.m., Oscar Solter, manAGENT of the J. C. Penney store called police to report prowlers on the roof of the store-Officers investigated the area, but could find no one. Later, at 4:10 a.m., Hermann Jungkeit, merchant patrolman, reported to the police station that prowlers had been seen on the roof of the Colonial Arms Apartments at 149 N. Lemon. Officers investigated, but again their efforts were fruitless. A woman in the apartments told the officers that two men had run from the building shortly before they arrived. LEGAL NOTICES (Sub. Anaheim Gazette, March 21 and 28, 1951.) NOTICE OF ELECTION For Members of the Governing Board of the Loa Elementary School District NOTICE IS HEREBY TO THE ELECTORS OF THE LOA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT Orange county, California, that the Annual Election for members of the Loa Elementary School District will be held on the third Friday of May, viz. Mr. 18, 1951. It will be necessary to elect one member. The polling place for said electors of the Loa Elementary School District will be at the Loa School said District. The polls will be open between the hours of 12 o'clock A.M. and 6 o'clock QUOTE-UNQUOTE — "What a beautiful layout!" Branch Rickey exclaimed when he visited Vie Reudy at La Palma Park last week. "Too bad 'Anaheim doesn't have hotel accommodations for a major league ball club." "Don't worry about us. We have our problems, but we'll work them out," Wit Matthews, the Chicago Cub personnel director, wired his boss, P. K. Wrigley, who inherited the chewing gum fortune and who won't part with any of it for ball players. Grant Rude, the retired Anaheim police officer, took in a couple of the workouts at Fullerton. If he had the opportunity, he'd ask Matthews: "How?" "Don't quote me." Kenny Foster, the sand and gravel man said, "but really I can't wait until it's time to go fishin'." Kenny's little brother is Ray Foster, the band leader. He used to trumpet for Chuck Foster and his orchestra. When he went on his own he had to go under the name of Ray Robbins. That's show business for you... NEWSPAPER NOTES — Val Lucas, editor of Bob Breckinridge's hometown weekly, fell off the roof of his house and broke a leg. Tough break for a nice guy. Otto Ruff, the East Anaheim sparkey, moved into the newspaper business last week. He wired the presses, linotypes and other machinery to keep Placentia presses rolling. Charlie Pearson's Anaheim Truck and Transfer moved Frank Rosnaw's journal to more spacious quarters. Paul Kroesen, the Buena Parker, got himself an unexpected birthday present—an accident. That’s rough going especially when you can’t tell about your injuries... Which reminds me to remind you that Chamber's Retail Division to Meet The regular monthly meeting of the Retail division of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce will be held at Mother's Kitchen, 601 S. Los Angeles, tomorrow morning beginning at 7:30. Subjects for discussion during the breakfast meeting are listed as (1) tieing our city together, (2) methods to secure and improve local trading by local citizens and (3) bicycle safety campaign. Walter Swanberger, chairman of the Retail division will be in charge of the meeting. Reservations may be made at the local Chamber of Commerce office. Co. Supervisors (Continued from Page 1) would be restricted from providing any municipal-type service in such districts unless all costs were paid by the districts. The bills also would empower the supervisors to supply services to the districts on their own initiative and tax the local districts for them. Forbidden services listed in the bills include police-protection or patrol, crime prevention, structural fire protection, playgrounds and parks, sewers, street and road construction, improvement, maintenance or repair at standards higher than on rural farm roads. The bills provide that urban unincorporated districts shall have a minimum area of one square mile and a population density of at least 300 persons per square mile; also physical improvements for residential, commercial, or industrial use on at least a third of the parcels of property included. ROUNDUP—Charles Ferguson, executive vice-president of the Daystrom Furniture corp., made a wise move when he selected Anaheim as the site for the concern's $500,000 plant. It'll save a lot of Anaheimers time going to and from work... Incidentally, Earnle (Loud Ties) Mochler is to be congratulated for his part in bringing another payroll to town... Europe Quake (Continued from Page 1) There was no report from Western Europe of any extensive damage from the earth shock. Prol.
