Alpha Beta Foods Announce Layout Of New Orange Co. Headquarters
Alpha Beta Food Markets, Inc., announced today the intention of the company to move its headquarters and central warehouse from the crowded Vernon area to a site in Orange county.
According to Claude W. Edwards, general manager, the company has purchased 21½ acres at the northwest corner of Fullerton road and Imperial highway near La Habra, and plans to construct a warehouse of some 125,000 square feet.
"The move is made necessary," Edwards said, "by the rapid growth of the company, and advisable by the fact that the new site will be approximately in the center of the southeast area which is served by Alpha Beta's 22 retail markets. Four new stores are now under construction, which, when ready, will tax our present facilities. The new land will give ample space for future enlargement as compared to the four acres of the present site."
The official described the new building as being spacious enough to house the large grocery and produce inventories necessary to supply the retail markets and will be complete with refrigeration and modern mechanical devices for the rapid filling of store orders.
The large delicatessen kitchen will also be under the same roof and in a specially constructed sanitary unit.
The company will construct a garage on the property for the Gledhills Receive Car as Son's Gift
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gledhill, 411 N. Emily st., Anaheim, are driving a new Pontiac "8."
What place has an item like this in a newspaper?
None, ordinarily, but it is news—and very good news—when a son presents his parents with a brand new car as a token of filial love and respect as Jack Gledhill, Jr., currently working on a construction job in the Marshall Islands of the Pacific, did.
In one of his letters home Jack asked his parents to buy themselves a new car from his funds in a local bank and consider it a gift from him. He plans to return home in April.
Future plans call for the construction of a large retail store on the corner and perhaps the addition of other types of merchandising units to round out a complete shopping center to care for the growing needs of the area.

FOGBOUND — A blanket thick, moist fog shrouded highway and byways. Now a then jeweled car lights wo come out of the misty blackn and vanish into nothingness. "Tain't a fit night out for man beast!" Elmer Belding, the angethorper, muttered as he m his rounds... A shadowy fo of a car pulled up. A voice call out: Hey, mister, what town this?... "Anaheim!" the night watchman called back... "It can't be."... "But it is!"
Well, I'll be go to... driver cursed. We left Anaheim an hour ago to go to Long Beach and we're right back where we started!
DISGRACE — That abandon graveyard on Euclid ave., south west of Anaheim is a disgrace. Those whose loved ones (of other generation) are buried there should see to it that they aren't completely forgotten.

The large delicatessen kitchen will also be under the same roof and in a specially constructed sanitary unit.
The company will construct a garage on the property for the maintenance of its fleet of trucks and automobiles.
The general offices will be quartered in the front portion of the building which will face Highway 101. From that location, the entire business will be administered.
The purchasing of merchandise, the hiring and training of employees, the planning of advertising, the accounting procedures and all related activities will center in the Orange county location.

At present, the property is covered with orange and lemon trees. As many of these will be saved as possible, so that the buildings will be nestled in a grove so characteristic of Orange county. Other types of landscaping will be employed to make it a beauty spot.
Construction of the buildings will commence very shortly. The Wm. P. Neil Co. Ltd., is the contractor.

Anaheimers Hear Wisconsin Evangelist as Part of 10-Day
Europe is an aching void which will be filled either by Christ or communism!
So said explosive, tear-headed eloquent and good-looking evangelist Charlie Anderson of Kenosha, Wis., at Youth for Christ's Orange county world vision rally at the old citrus packing house, 804 East Center street last night.
Anderson's Orange county rally, held concurrently with Youth for Christ's seventh annual executive council now under way in Los Angeles, is one in a 10-day series of public evangelistic meetings sponsored by Youth for Christ leading up to the 22-day united revival in the same auditorium sponsored by the Christ for Orange county committee with more than 40 churches of many denominations participating.
Recently returned from many successful revival crusades in Europe, the Kenosha gospel firebrand spoke on "America Talks Spiritual Inventory" and took his text from the eighth chapter of Deuteronomy, second verse: "And thou shalt remember all the way when the Lord thy God hath led thee."
"The people of Germany are hungry for the gospel and need willingly and in great numbers to our Youth for Christ tent revival campaigns." He said. "Conditions in Europe are horrifying. There is scarcely a home which has not been bereaved, and some of Germany's cities have suffered overwhelmingly."
Germany has suffered more than 870,000 civilian casualties alone from bombing. In Frankfurt, 138,000 civilians were killed in three weeks. In 48 hours, 80,000 were killed in the city of Hamburg. The only major city in Germany that escaped bombing is Heidelberg, seat of the famous university and center of German culture."

Part of 10-Day Rally Being Held in Packing House
International magazine. He told the audience about Youth for Christ's widespread evangelistic program which sends evangelistic parties to many parts of the world. In these campaigns alone, more than 7,500,000 were in attendance with upwards of 138,000 "first time" conversions. The YFC editor stated.
Bill Stevens, of Charleston, W. Va., provided special vocal solos and told of the extensive work of Youth for Christ on the eastern American seaboard.
Tonight the Anaheim 7:30 rally will present Phil and Louis Palermo, famous musical evangelists who founded Youth for Christ in Italy, with Art Atwell, Inglewood chinchilla raiser and one of America's outstanding concert soloists who will provide special instrumental numbers. The Palermos will relate experience in Italy and provide vocal music to their own accompaniment. Both are proficient instrumentalists.
George Wilson, Youth for Christ vice-president and regional director for the organization's activities in the north central states with headquarters in Minneapolis, will bring a special message:
Gordon Johnson, Orange county Youth for Christ director invites groups and individuals from Anaheim to attend the 7:30 rally which will be held nightly through February 17 with a special Sunday afternoon rally at 3:00. The building is well heated, with comfortable seating.
The Christ for Orange county crusade with Dr. T. W. Wilson as the evangelist gets under way Saturday evening at 8:30. Assisting Dr. Wilson will be Donald De Vos, soloist-songleader and Herman Voss, organist.
