County Bank Re-Elects Officers Incumbent officers and directors of the Southern County bank were re-elected for the coming year at the Annual Stockholders meeting held last Friday it was announced today by R. Foster Lamm, president. Officers re-elected were Mr. Lamm, president; James A. Baker, B. W. Jordan, Walker K. Thompson and William M. Moore, vice-presidents; James B. Griffith, cashier; Wilson W. Phelps, secretary; Faith Wittmer, assistant secretary; Jones Heddens and Bert M. Wells, assistant cashiers; H. P. Atherton, Jr., and R. S. Click, Jr., assistant managers; and J. L. Johnson, pro-manager. Directors include Mr. Lamm, Mr. Phelps, Mr. Baker, David E. Bradley, Joseph B. Collins, K. F. Hellyer, I. D. Jaynes, Kenneth A. Nagel, Louis Stalkman, H. W. Theines and Percy L. Waters. The regular semi-annual dividend of $3 per share, plus an extra dividend of $1 per share, was declared payable on Feb. 6, 1951, to stockholders of record as of Jan. 31, 1951. Anaheimer's Mother Dies at Iowa Home Ross Lee Laird of 516 N. Lemon st., boarded a plane at 11 p.m. last night to fly to Iowa upon receiving word that his mother had died. His mother, Mrs. Mary Laird of 908 Ave. D, Fort Madison, Iowa, died about 7 p.m. las. night at the age of 92. She had been ill for 5 years. Laird, a local attorney, left last night from Phoenix, Arizona, where he has been trying a civil case for the past two weeks. Police Investigate Two Minor Crashes Anaheim Police officers investigated two minor accidents in the city limits yesterday and Saturday, but found no personal injuries resulting. Cars driven by Seth Francis Shecton, Jr., 1109 E. Whiting, Fullerton, and Iris Ratcliff Hart, Los Angeles, collided at Lemon and La Palma sts., yesterday at 12 a.m. Only property damage resulted. Minor damage resulted when cars driven by William F. Schimming, 10422 E. Orange st., Anaheim. Police Comfort Children, Thrash Father Verbally A Torrance father is an embarrassed but wiser man today, following a dissertation on the care of children by Anaheim police officers Saturday night. Police were notified at 8:10 p.m. that three children were crying in a car parked in the Safeway market parking lot and had been for two hours. The children were taken to the police station by officers, where they were warmed up and comforted. Then they waited for the parents to show up. Finally, Henry Ascentio of Torrance walked into the station looking for his children. They were delivered to him, but only after the policemen delivered their opinions of fathers who leave children in a parked car and had extracted a promise from him never to do it again. THAILAND DENIES OPIUM TRAFFIC BANGKOK (P)—Thailand claims she is innocent of responsibility for the opium trade in this region of Southeast Asia. Nai Vorakan Bancha, Minister of Foreign Affairs, told newsmen here Thailand would be able to prove this conclusively before the International Narcotics Commission. Nai Vorakan said the opium trade between Burma and China is now coming through Thailand because of the war conditions in Indochina which forced a change of the smuggling route. He added that growing and transporting opium is illegal in Thailand. KUALA LUMPUR (P)—The government of the Federation of Malaya is urging newspapers to save newsprint. A spokesman of the federal economic secretariat said no rationing is planned but it would be wise for publishers to conserve as much of their newsprint as possible.
