Rural Subscribers Get Hot-off-Press Delivery Service
To meet demands of an expanding rural circulation, the Gazette will add another Anaheim rural car delivery route on Jan. 2.
Designed to speed fresh-from-the-press editions into the hands of rural readers, the new route will cover areas south and west of the city of Anaheim. The present rural route covers Stanton and the rural area to the west. The new delivery area is generally bounded by Katella on the south, Miller on the west, Crescent and the city limits on the north, and Placentia on the east.

Errol Flynn Home Wrecked by Woman
HOLLYWOOD (P)—A woman forced her way into the home of Erooll Flynn, chased a maid, hurlled barbecue furniture into a swimming pool and generally upset the place, police reported today.
The maid, Mrs. Julie Miller, telephoned police last night and said a woman, upon being informed that the actor was in Europe, stormed into the house, opened drawers and doors and smashed pots in the patio.
Officers W. R. Beck and L. E. Harvey hurried to the scene. They said that when they arrived at the mansion, the woman charged Beck with a hoe but tripped and fell.
They said her cryptic explanation was "Flynn has been bothering me and my daughter for three years."
She carried no cards of identification and the officers booked her on suspicion of burglary under the name of Jane Doe.
November Work In State Shows Quarter Million Up
SACRAMENTO—Approximately a quarter of a million more persons were employed in California during November of this year than were at work during the corresponding month of 1949. It was announced today following a conference between Paul Scharrenberg, Director of the State Department of Industrial Relations, and James G. Bryant, Director of the State Department of Employment.
A further comparison which reflected California's steady economic growth showed that November, 1950, employment was about 575,000 above the number at work during November of 1943 and Truman
Continued from Page 1 lack of Senate action when the present Congress ends.
Much more likely to get immediate attention from the new Congress will be Mr. Truman's expected requests for huge military outlays at home and abroad, revision of the draft law, higher taxes, authority to set up emergency agencies and extension of the rent control law.
These and other emergency-spawned issues are expected to take up the opening months of Congress. The new membership is so closely divided between Democrat and Republicans that it probably will pass little controversial domestic legislation.
The present Congress spent two years talking about and doing some work on measures which will die with its adjournment. This means that proponents will have to start all over again, if they hope to obtain action by the new Congress.
Most controversial of these bills was the FEPC measure passed by the House. The body approved a voluntary FEPC, but the Senate didn't take any action.
The Senate also left to die a House-approved increase in postal rates. That issue will be up again because of demands for domestic spending economy in view of huge military outlays.
The present Congress also failed to act finally on a bill to fix the title to oil-rich off-shore lands. It would have authorized the federal government to lease submerged areas beyond state lines.
A proposed constitutional amendment granting equal rights to women was passed by the Senate but died in the House.
These and other issues are likely to bob up again in the legislative halls. But unless there is a sharp improvement in world conditions, Congress won't have

Pedestrians Urged To Be on Alert
The California Highway Patrol today urged pedestrians to depend upon themselves for their own safety.
Pointing out that this season of the year usually records the highest number of pedestrian accidents, the Highway Patrol reminded pedestrians
"Don't depend upon the driver to look out for you—he may not see you or he may be preoccupied."
"Don't step off the curb without looking all ways. Cross streets at cross walks only—and then only when you know it is safe to do so."
Communist Party Convenes Tonight In New York
NEW YORK (P)—The Communist Party of the United States opens its 15th Biennial national convention here tonight with public rallies in Manhattan, the Bronx and Brooklyn.
The national committee and party leaders from various parts of the country will begin working sessions tomorrow behind closed doors at an unannounced location.
Gus Hall, national secretary of the party, probably will be the highest-ranking communist at the meeting. Eugene Dennis, general secretary of the organization, Is in jail. National chairman William Z. Foster is ill.
When the party met two years ago, the public meeting was held in Madison Square Garden and Henry A. Wallace was endorsed as the party's presidential candidate.
But this year, Wallace and many former followers are on the opposite side of the political fence, the communists will be lucky to fill the three small, separate halls they have rented for tonight.

Aim of the contest, "The Mediterranean-Capetown rally," is to demonstrate that Africa no longer is dark and dangerous but is open to touring by automobile.
The trip is expected to take two months and a half. Speed is no object, rules of the contest emphasizing 80 miles an hour as a maximum.
The five contestants who left today were French. Several Americans, Belgians, Swiss and Italians are also scheduled to take part.
