Legion Auxiliary Christmas Party
As a special event, members of Anaheim American Legion auxiliary held a festive Christmas party Tuesday evening in conjunction with their regular business meeting.
Although business was held to a minimum, several reports were handled. Results of the recent membership drive were announced with the team led by Elizabeth Neuman chalking up 1735 points to win the contest. Losing team, under Evelyn Schwarting recorded 1685 points and will host the winners at a dinner for the January meeting. Current membership is 130.
Members were enthusiastic in their decision to bring cheer to a needy veteran's family for Christmas. His wife and three children will receive toys, food and clothing to be presented by the auxiliary.
Christmas carols and music formed a traditional background for the gift exchange around the beautifully decorated Christmas tree.
Refreshments were served from a buffet table covered with a face cloth with a centerpiece of small pine cones and greenery. Tall red candles in crystal holders were set at each end of the table. Refreshments of red and green jello topped with whipped cream and cookies were served. Miniature gum drops formed miniature candle holders which were given as favors. In charge of the delightful affair were Margy Presnel, Fannie Webb, Maud Knoch and Verna Hopkins, Marjorie O'Kane Florence Smith and Pearl

County Hospital Children Receive Gifts Made by Senior, Intermediate Girl Scouts
Getting into the full spirit of the season with gifts for children was a group of 8th grade Girl Scouts of Cypress. Seventeen little ones at the Orange County hospital were the recipients of gift packages made by the Girl Scouts of Cypress Troop 12. Each package contained a plastic toy, toothbrush, a stuffed animal or doll and a book; these last items were made by the girls themselves, with each girl donating her allowance to buy all materials going into the packages.
Making and donating three of the stuffed animals to the troop was Mrs. O. Switzer, who became interested in the worthwhile project upon seeing the girl's clever efforts.
The children and old ladies at the Orange County hospital enjoyed hearing Christmas carols from this troop. Caroling were Mable Gage, Janice Gerber, Cornelia Dykstra, Barbara Palmer and Jayne Chapman. Interested helpers and chauffeurs for the carolers were Mrs. James Palmer, Mrs. Esten Gage and Mrs. N. L. Chapman, who is also the troop leader. Girls unable to attend the caroling but who made packages for the children included Fern Elliot, Susan Vwart, Rosetta Smith and Allison Wheeler.
Senior Girl Scout Troop No. 8 met at the Girl Scout Little House recently for their December meeting, to complete plans for the holiday season. The business meeting was conducted by Judy De Bevc with the following announcements being made: All girls were asked to wear their senior welfare and a Christmas box or a needy family were packed by the girls. An invitation from the Palm Springs Girl Scouts to be their guests and use their beautiful new Girl Scout house was received with enthusiasm, and the dates of Dec. 28, 29 and 30 were decided upon.
The evening was spent singing Christmas carols and enjoying delicious Yultide refreshments furnished by Carolyn Miller and Judy De Bevc.
From Zion Lutheran school comes news of a recent party. Scribe for this troop of seventh graders is Carol Wilkirson, who reports a gala time at the home of Mrs. W. J. Troutman on N. Parkway. The home was beautifully decorated with the season's traditional holly and greenery, the large lighted tree of prime interest. Each Girl Scout received from her leaders, Mrs. W. J. Troutman and Mrs. C. K. Newkirk, a small gift.
The Scouts enjoyed games, caroling and refreshments of punch, fruit jello and Christmas cookies. Attending were Joyce Lugar, Janice Troutman, Gayle Newkirk, Dorothy Flugge, Salley Cordes, Kathleen Cordes and scribe, Carol Wilkirson.
