RUSSIANS HOSE CAPITAL HANGOUT WASHINGTON (P)—The Soviet embassy is installing 75-foot fire hoses, as a precaution, some people think, against possible bomb raids on the capital. James B. Carey, president of the CIO Electrical Workers, last night disclosed the work being done—"presumably as a defense precaution against possible bombing of Washington." He complained that non-union plumbers had been hired for the job. Carey said this indicated that Russia is "no friend of organized labor." The embassy had no comment. 20-30 Clubs Hold Sub-District Meet 20-30 club meeting was presided over by sub-district governor, Herb Douglas of Orange last Monday night for the sub-district council meeting. Two delegates from each club in district 4, which takes in 10 cities, met to discuss expansion of both international and local clubs and to turn in reports on the Rheumatic Fever Fund internationally sponsored by the 20-30 clubs. Policy of working up a sizable fund on this project is to extract a cent a day per member. It has been estimated that the amount collected comes to $25,000. Extensive Christmas charitable work is being done by each club. Next meeting will be at the Fullerton Moose hall, Dec. 27.
