(AP)—plosion at a Marine Corps depot today brought a possible evacuation of this ed desert town to escape gas. Officials said fire follow blast, set off by electric which somehow touched chlorine. The big Marine base is Moiave some eight miles Barstow, lying between the of Yermo on U. S. Highway Daggett on U. S. 66. The town's population is 500. The blast sent a gigan developing cloud of chlorine to the air. Military and civilians feared that the fume be blown into Daggett. This is four miles from the Mar establishment. A Union Pacific freight was held at Yermo, being advised that it is dangerous to risk entering the hemmed in by the acrid lime fumes.
