(Photo by Gibson-Naill) Marriage of Betty Row Unites Prominent An Returned this week from a Santa Barbara honeymoon are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Newton who were married Friday evening at Capilla de San Antonio. The bride is the former Miss Betty Lou Rowlands, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. I. Rowlands of E. Orange ave. She repeated her vows in a gown of white slipper satin with a soft sweetheart neckline and long flowing train. Her veil belonged to a cousin, Mrs. Ray Trevorrow and she carried a bouquet of white gladiolus centered with an orchid. Maid of honor Miss Jeneal Reeves wore a gown of yellow satin, the full skirt covered by an overskirt of sheer net. Deep pink gladiolus formed her colonia bouquet. Bridesmaids were Marion Glick, who wore pink satin with a net bodice, and Alyce Woods who wore aqua with a net top. Both carried boquets of deep pink gladiolus in quaint colonial styles. Rev. Barbara Wardlow Given Honors at Prenuptial Fete Miss Barbara Wardlow was honored Monday night when a group of her friends gathered at the Cushing home on E. Ball d., for a miscellaneous prenuptial shower. Co-hostessing the affair were Gerry Huff and Jackie Cushing. The evening was spent chatting and reminiscing of former school days at the local high school. Games also provided entertainment for the guests with prizes won by Ivene Demaree, Evelyn Hamby and the honoree. Chrysanthemums and tall candles graced the serving table, accented with tiny silver wrapped favors. Climaxing the evening was the opening of gifts by the honored guest while her friends looked on. Taking part in the evening's activities, in addition to Miss Wardlow and the hostesses were: Mrs. Evelyn Wardlow, mother of the bride-to-be; Mrs. Donna Gavin, Alice Brambley, Juanita Hamby, Evelyn Hamby, Mrs. Glenn Ham- VFW Auxiliary Plans For Coming Weeks Plans for a busy holiday season were formulated last night by VFW Auxiliary when members convened for their regular meeting at the VFW hall. On the agenda for the coming weeks are a card party on Nov. 29 with proceeds to be given to the Cancer Research fund; a bazaar on the afternoon and evening of Dec. 6; and the Post and Auxiliary’s Christmas Dinner or Dec. 16. Following the business meeting refreshments were served by Mary Fordyce and Linnie Campbell. Sunday local members represented Anaheim at the Second District meeting in Indio. Attending from here were Opal Walters, department junior vice president, and husband George Walters; Florence Carroll, president, and husband Merle; Bessie Poetz, Minnie Campbell, Vinnie Swallow, Amanda and Lowell Gamble, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Richards, Mary Hund, Agnes Hund, Mollie Claes, and Martha Russell. The department head spoke on membership and the hospital chairman, Helen Hobbs of Banning, reported on the excellent work being conducted in the veterans hospitals. All persons residing within the bounds of Katella school district are earnestly requested to be present at Katella school tomorrow evening at 7:30 to organize the district for civil defense. E. A. “Dan” Patch, administrator of Civil Defense for Orange county will explain civil defense and assist in organizing the district. As this is one of the most vital matters of the day all persons are urged to be present. Mr. and Mrs. Adolfo Gomez of La Jolla Colony are parents of a daughter born at Orange county hospital on Nov. 11. Unable to attend, but sending gifts were: Hazel Kissell, Gerry Kissell, Barbara Bastian, Willa Abplanalp and Gwen Spohn. Personal Items Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Hollingsworth of 221 S. Olive st., have a wealth of interesting adventures to relate concerning the extended vacation trip they enjoyed during October. They left Anaheim on Sept. 30 and returned Saturday evening. First stop was Colorado Springs, which they reached by train, where they visited Mrs. Hollingsworth' daughter Mrs. Pearl Hollsapple for two weeks. They left Colorado by automobile and traveled to Winona, Kansas from which they toured to Minnesota. Other stops in Kansas included Oakley and Topeka where they visited relatives. From Kansas they traveled by train to Portland Oregon where they visited Mr. Hollingsworth's two sisters, former residents of California. Mr. Hollingsworth left Nebraska in 1908. Shattuck was best man and ushers were Oliver Newton, the bridegroom's brother; and Gillette Rowlands, bride's brother. Soloist, Mrs. Alice Robertson sang "Because," "O Promise Me," and "I Love You Truly." Reception was held following the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents, with Miss Jeneal Reeves in charge of the guest book. Mrs. Rowland wore a navy blue dress with matching accessories and Mrs. Newton wore a light green suit. New address of the couple is 394 Shaffer st., Orange. Both are graduates of Anaheim High school and the bridegroom was recently discharged from the Navy where he served on the submarine USS Halfback in New London, Connecticut. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Newton of Silverado. Go to Church Sunday ALTAR SOCIETY INAUGURATES SEASON WITH CARD PARTY An attractive harvest theme set the mood recently for the St. Boniface Altar Society annual fall card party held in the parish hall. Highlight of the evening was the awarding of the cash door prize which was won by Mrs. Alfred Buberle. Prizes for contract bridge were awarded to Ann Treanor and Mrs. Theodore Rimpau; auction bridge, Mrs. R. O. Quarton; 500, Mrs. S. LaFortune and Mrs. Ude Bauer; canasta, Emma Jackson, Mrs. Ben Kaulbars and Mrs. S. B. Kramer and pinnochle, Dorothy McCormick and J. Van Casteren. Mrs. Victor Loly won the Many additional door prizes awarded during the evening. Responsible for the enjoyment party were the president, J. W. Truxaw, general chair Mrs. John Larson, and Mrs. William LeVecke. Ikettes will hold a social meeting for their families and friends tomorrow night at 8 p.m., in American Legion hall.
