Morris Realty, Morris Insurance Agency Ready for Business Under LA St. Roof

It's the same spot but a new man in charge of a newly modernized place of business for the Morris Realty Company of Anaheim.
The spot is 111 N. Los Angeles st., the Morris Realty location for a number of years.
The man in charge now is Gene G. Mahaffey. An Anaheimer for 24 years, Mahaffey was until recently partner-manager of the Mahaffey-Fitz Furniture Company. He was in the furniture business locally for 10 years.
Past member of the Chamber of Commerce board of directors, Mahaffey has been much connected with local civic and business affairs. He is a member of the Kiwanis club.
A graduate of Anaheim high school, he lives with his family at 906 W. Alberta. Mahaffey and his wife, Pauline, have two children, Pamela, 6, and Patricia, 3.

To provide customers with a convenient and easily accessible place to transact business, James L. Morris Insurance Agency moves to offices at 111 N. Los Angeles st., to share the location with Morris Realty Company.
For the past six years, the Morris Insurance Agency has been located in the Bank of American building.
Customer convenience, plus the need for added room necessitate the switch, according to manager James L. Morris. In addition, the Los Angeles st., offices have been modernized and redecorated in anticipation of the combination of insurance and realty operations.
Started under a different name, Morris agency has seen to Anaheim insurance needs for the past 20 years. James Morris bought out a previous owner, Charles B. Frank, two years ago.

The 111 N. Los Angeles st., business house has been completely remodelled and modernized. A new front and sign, panelled walls on the inside and a new ceiling and floor are all designed to make business at Morris Realty a pleasant operation.
The staff, except for the addition of Mahaffey, remains the same. Included are C. C. Morris, C. S. Fick and John Shirley.
Notary public Thelma G. Schueller also operates in the Los Angeles st., office.

OPTIMISTS SEE IDAHO MOVIES
Sun Valley, Idaho, was the theme of the technicolor picture shown at the Optimist meeting last night. Dr. C. O. Petterson acted as extemporaneous program chairman. He reeled out the four seasons at Sun Valley in brilliant color and a faulty sound tract.
Tom Yellis presided over the business meeting.

Mrs. Mae Johnson has been informed that her son, Leonard Torres, has been accepted into the Epsilon Pi Tau honorary Industrial Arts fraternity.
Torres is a senior at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is also a member of Xi Omicron Pi, an honorary Graphie Arts fraternity.
Upon graduating he will receive a secondary teaching credential in Industrial Arts.
Torres is a graduate of Anaheim High school and Fullerton Junior college.

Assemblies were heard and seen all over the A.U. campus this week. Monday Mr. Biery, Hammond organist, entertained in the auditorium with new and old musical selections. He also showed the various tones that can be played on a Hammond organ.
Allowe'en assembly, held Tuesday, was enjoyed by all "Cones" and "Clems" with movie features "Man of the Eifel Power" and "So Dear to My Heart" highlighting the program.
Also Football Classics of 1949 and a cartoon were shown.
Anaheim High girls saw Mrs. Florence Brucker, Buena Park appeteer, manipulate her marionettes during Girls League assembly, Wednesday in the auditorium. She worked the puppets full view of the audience. Boys attended clubs during this tour.
Future Homemakers and Foods students received every prize except two in the pie and cake baking contest at the Anaheim Halewen Festival and Fair. Rita De Sanaro won first prize for dark cakes and Ann Karraker won first light cakes. In the special division, June Muraoka was awarded ribbon for her chocolate angel ood cake. LaVerne Stanley's pumpkin pie won a first place rating.
Dixylee Hopkins, Commercial club president has appointed members of three committees to work during this year. FBLA newspaper, "Commercial Crier," will be edited by Ronnie Bevins, Bryce Martinez, Carolyn Haney, Ira Green, Geneva Phillips andoria McKinzie.

The purpose of the facility, built with student labor and with war surplus materials, is to enable students to core design. Santa Ana College Students Construct New Shop Foundry with War Materials
A foundry for aluminum castings is in the process of being built at Santa Ana college by student help with war surplus materials. This small shop room is being constructed principally by the welding class as one of their class projects.
Mr. Cornett, instructor at Santa Ana college, states that students will learn how to make sand molds which will produce castings. These completed castings narrow specialists can be produced.
Already, one of the students is planning to use the new facilities to invent a carburetor which will make hill climbing already designed and the mold and with the inventive soon as the new bus constructed.
Mr. Cornett plan new foundry to do projects on the parts.

This addition to the machine shop course will help the student gain a complete understanding of machine tool and die making, enabling him to see the entire process of creating and using a piece of machinery. It is hoped that by this means craftsmen rather than narrow specialists can be produced.

SA Construction Hits New Record
With new federal building controls not having shown effect on new construction, Santa Ana city building totals to Nov. 1, were at a new record high of $10,192,457 for the year, with two months yet to go.
The current total is more than $3,000,000 ahead of last year's total at this date, which was $7,083,054.
The October total for new construction was $1,323,386, an advance of nearly half a million over the September total of $903,-583, the gain being $419,803.
While November begins with an indication of possible slackening in the building pace, due to federal controls now in effect, no November permits for new construction had been issued up to today.
Recalled Vets Should Tell VA
Veterans recalled to active military duty while they are receiving benefit payments from Veterans Administration can save themselves and the Government a lot of trouble by notifying VA immediately of their recall, VA said today.
Theses benefit payments include GI or Public Law 16 subsistence allowances and compensation for service-connected disabilities.
The law does not permit a veteran to receive such VA payments once he goes back into uniform, VA explained.
BRANTFORD, Ont.—(AP)—The Ontario Plowmen's Association has acquired a plow, made in 1804, for display at the International Plowing Match at Allison, Ont. Now it is anxious to find more old implements for a museum of farm equipment.
