County Asks State Bay Project Aid LOS ANGELES, MD — Two Orange county officials today asked state aid for a multi-million dollar development of upper Newport Bay. Harry E. Bergh, Orange county planning commissioner, and Harry Welch, secretary of the county harbor commission, urged state consideration of the project at a hearing of the assembly interim committee on tide land reclamation and development. They estimated development of the bay for small boats and recreation use would cost from five to ten million dollars. Bergh and Welch also urged that the highway 101 bridge over the Newport Channel be rebuilt to provide a 65-foot clearance for boats. They said the present clearance is 17 feet, too low even for some power boats. The officials said the new bridge would cost approximately $4,500,000 would increase by 80 per cent the present usable harbor area. Investment Talks On Santa Ana Slate Mr. William J. Carnell Beauty Salon E. Center Anaheim, Calif. Ph. 0215 Beautiful Week Oct. 22-29 Beauty Salon Operators Emphasize Importance of Professional Care Beauty is our profession, and during National Beauty Salon Week, October 22-29, which is dedicated to more beautiful women, we welcome the opportunity to tell the women of Anaheim some things about the professional aspects of beauty and the activities of our local beauty salons in this community during the week. Our slogan is, "Well groomed women everywhere depend on professional beauty care." How true that statement is. The lovely woman, who values her appearance is always impeccably groomed. She is the woman who makes heads turn as she walks down the street. From tip to toe, from her coiffed head down to her pedicured feet, she expresses loveliness. She is charming and poised because she knows she is well-groomed, because she has entrusted her beauty care to the skilled hands of a professional beauty expert. During National Beauty Salon Week, more than 25,000 beauty salons in all parts of the country are intent on urging American women to take a look in the mirror and decide just exactly how well-groomed they are—and if they are dissatisfied, to do something about it. Beauty is a science and a profession and not a hit-and-miss proposition in this modern age. Skill training and years of experience go into the education of a good beauty operator. This means that hairstyling, permanent waving, hair coloring, makeup application, skin care, manicuring and so on, are highly technical and creative processes which require a great deal of know-how. During the past few years, official recognition of beauty as a science and a profession has been shown by a number of universities throughout the country which have been offering advanced courses at specially organized institutes of cosmetology. This constitutes a course postgraduate for the professional cosmetologist. Today, there is no substitute for professional beauty care. We, the beauty salon operators of Anaheim, are prepared to render these professional services. We cordially invite Anaheim women to come and see what we have and what we can do.
